I don't see any reason at all to believe that KBG is in your grass at all. I do see some Creeping Bentgrass in there though. Key point, You said you had sod QUALITY seed, NOT sod. Advice will vary greatly knowing this. I would use Tenacity as a pre-M and it will kill out your Creeping Bent when applied 2 times at 2 week intervals and most importantly, at half rate. May take three passes, but it wipes that stuff out! Pay attention to where the grass looks bluish and dewy in the AM when the good grass is dried out of the dew. That said, on to the next post. Tenacity does not cost 90 per bottle. Not even close. Closer to half that, and is far cheaper oz. per oz. of specialty and big box chems that don't do 1/10th of what it does. Well, it's been a couple of weeks, and I thought I'd give an update. In the dead areas that I've cleared, the St. Augustine runners are moving into them, and starting to root well. I hand water those areas every day or two, just to encourage them. Surprisingly, weeds are NOT a problem in these areas. It may be that the layered dead grass was so thick that weed seeds may not have penetrated. If they did, they may not have been able to germinate completely, and essentially died. As to plugs, sure, they'd be nice. But given time, healthy St. Augustine does it by itself. In fact, my clumps of live grass in the cleared dead areas have starbursts of runners coming out of them. Yeah, it'll take a year to completely fill back in naturally, but it looks like it'll happen. What I have been trying is to take long runners that aren't needed from other parts of the lawn, and try to start them as cuttings in the cleared areas. I mean, a long runner headed out over the sidewalk just needs to go somewhere else!

There are spots that died completely and the majority is still brown but appears to have grown as the blades are tipped white where I am presuming the saltwater burnt. I am now wondering if I should fertilize?

When we came to North Carolina many years ago, you would go down to the county office and declare your belongings for the personal property tax. At that time my Sailboat was about 15 years old and still worth about 3k. You would walking to the clerks office she would as if you had any of the following going room by room. When it came to the boat, she would say do you have a boat? ME Yes. SHE How much is it worth? ME: I dont know. SHE Will make a guess. ME Will what do you think a 15 year old sailboat without a motor is worth. It is in my garage at the house. SHE Will the last guy had a sailboat that was worth about $200 ME Will that probably is reasonable for a 15 year old sailboat with out a motor. Versions of this conversation were repeated every year until the state wised up and decided to tax personal property as a percentage of the house value.
