My strawberries are just now showing inclination to set runners. Perhaps waiting a bit might prove useful. These were purchased a few years ago when the local growers were selling some plants. I also have a few purchased from a catalog (Tri-Star). Both seem to be performing about the same, but I lost a good deal earlier from what looked like red stele (sp), but those remaining look healthy. My recent feeding with compost tea might have been a factor as they became quite "perky" then. Where were you able to get the Mara des Bois? Those from the local growers which I purchased were called Camarosa - I think. Home Depot sells a different variety - I note, which I haven't tried - they usually look a bit sad by the time I get to them, so have not purchased any. Just my 2 c's. Bejay

Pehaps I just 'lucked out' but>>> Before the monsoons finally got here I absolootly had to trasplant my 8 roses to larger pots!(long-- er story that tis) So here is what I did>> 1. pruned out all the "UGLEES".... down to as far as I thought the certain plant could handle it.Some were nubs! 2.lightly fertilzed 3. watered more often 4.made my own soil mix(more later on that, if you'd like ) 5.found soil polymers with low slow release pellets (7-7-7) 6 waited till those purty pinky/purple leaves of new growth turned green on the nubs 6a.drilled holes in NEW gigantic pots added magic soil mix, polymer crystals and TRANSPLANTED them 6b.just closed my eyes .. and prayed to the gods 7.the rain gods figured they would grant a few miracles>>BLESSED RAIN..slow an steady..and in buckets too at times well it was such a gamble... Cannot take credit..'someone knew how very special those roses were to me.I wanted to share, as sometimes where theres a will' there is a way!! Thanks for listening..hth Hugs, Dian

Only because it sounds like they're in danger of drowning where they are, I would move them now. (If they were over-crowded or not getting enough sun or some other problem, I would advise you to wait.) But be very careful to dig out the plants/clumps without disturbing the roots - use a shovel to move them with a ball of soil, sorta like moving a tree. This late in the year, digging them in a manner that would disturb the roots would be risky at best. I had to move my irises from VA (zone 7) to Ohio (zone 5) in January a few years ago. By keeping the roots balled in soil, I succeeded and only lost a few of them. (And those that died were ones that didn't have enough soil with them.) Good luck! Diana

Planting at that time allows roots shocked or damaged during the planting process to regenerate and the yuccas to acclimate to your landscape. Supplement rainfall and fog moisture if necessary during the first year, letting the plants dry out between watering sessions to enhance successful transplantation." I'm bumping it up so maybe others with experience can chime in.
