More pictures (not hostas)

You can blame this on Ken. He asked for pictures looking the other way (from the roses in the previous post). Here are some pictures of sunsets and the view at various times of the year. Boy, I take a lot of pictures...

We look due west so the sun is in different positions. Right now at almost the longest day of the year it is between Fly Hills to the south (left) and Bastian Mountain to the north (right).

The lake is Shuswap and the little villiage seen in a few of the pictures is Canoe. The last picture is where I will be for the rest of the summer if I ever get all these hostas planted and we get some sun.

Merle, I think you must live in heaven! My area is pretty close, but pales in comparison to the area around you. Your photos are just stunning. They make me go 'ahhhhhhhhh'.

As always, your photography and the setting leave me breathless!

No slacking off until those hostas are planted. ;-)

Here in Michigan we are having sub zero temps! I keep finding myself looking online at hosta suppliers and ending up buy two or three more each time I surf, hoping that it might get me over my winter time blues. I keep tell myself no more but it feels so comforting! I pray for an early spring before I run out of money!

I don't have a Blue Mammoth at the moment..I just picked it as an example as it really appeals to me.. I am still moving things around and changing my mind about a few noids I have...i will go look at the Blue Hawaii also...

Bernd- You have a point there. Too many new introductions are being marketed and sold w/o having been grown to maturity. A cool looking tc sport or seedling grows for 2 or 3 years and shazzam, get it out and sell it. Once I took the time to read thru the AHS "New Registrations" booklet only to discover that in some of the descriptions, it would say 3 yr. old seedling, or a sport that was discovered a year ago. No one knows how it will perform in backyards under different growing conditions. I rather enjoy some of the rattier photos of some hostas. It shows me how one will look under under different growing conditions. Carol Brasher used to take the photos for Mary Chastain's old website. Every one of them looked breathtaking. I bought a bunch and some were indeed beautiful, but not all. Sometime I get totally taken in by a leaf photo, only to not like the plant in more or less shade/sun. I wish one couldn't register or market a hosta that hadn't been grown out for 5 years, But I am dreaming again. I like Wheee! - if I see one I may have to add it. I like your basket of kittens too. I always see some many cute little things in pictures posted here but never when I'm out shopping. It's probably a good thing, yet another addiction I'd have to come to terms with eventually. ;)

Westy, Canoe is in British Columbia, just north of the middle of the state of Washington. My neighbor has a second home just a little east of Canoe. She sends photos of lakes and mountains too. We visited several years ago, and it is fantastic.

Thank you all for your nice comments. It is very beautiful here and I feel so fortunate every day. I guess you can understand why I hardly go anywhere and even a trip of fifteen minutes to town for some errand is an irritation. My feet have grown roots just like the hostas.

Lois is right Westy, we are nearly due north from Spokane Washington up the Okanagan Valley. It's about 6 hours from there to here. Running along the bottom of the hill (our side of Canoe) is the Trans Canada Highway about a mile and a half away. We are midway between Vancouver, BC and Calgary, Alberta. It's about 5 hours to either by car. If any of you are travelers and find yourselves taking that trip, I'm serious, call me. Myrle

The saying "Heaven on Earth" comes to my mind. You have a truly magical place to call home. I'm awestruck that someone actually has scenery like this to admire over that first cup of morning coffee.
