Linda, last I saw they had over 20 different seed types, maters peppers herbs flowers peas lettuce beans etc. Since you only grow a few plants at a time and they last a long time (maters supposed to grow for 7 months) I personally won't need many. For example I received lettuce seed pods for xmas and unless I buy another system, I won't be planting them until the maters are done, probably late summer. People with multiple systems would be more concerned with the variety. One down side is you can't grow maters with lettuce or herbs as they are heavy feeders and the other plants will suffer. I know I tried an herb in the far left slot (you can hardly see it in the pic) and it's severely stunted. As for costs this is not inexpensive but not outrageous either, maters were about $20.00 and included nutrients. This may be a one or two time novelty or more hopefully have a way to enjoy fresh veggies during the winter months. Hope this helped.

The product may be quite good. However, pushy ads may repel potential customers. Don't over-do it.

Foridabear, The Aerogarden is a great little device and what you can do with it is only limited by your imagination. A couple of notes. The oasis product (cubes) did not work. They remain too wet in the constant drip system the AG uses and most although not all of the seeds rotted. I next tried organic sponges cut to fit the cup. There are few brands out there such as Rapid Rooters, etc. All seeds have just recently germinated. As far as nutrients are concerned I have General Hydroponics 3-part Flora, the single part (and stinky) Nova and the elegant and simple Floramato. The Floramato is what I am going to replace the AG nutrient with on all my runs. It is a simple 1 part dry powder with the same buffers (to hold the PH in all waters) I imagine the AG tablets have. I have used it on patio and betterboys growing in coco (coir) outdoors and the tomatoes are just scrumptious with very high solids and sugars. It also keeps it simple: 1 tsp. per gallon. As far as seeds, I suspect that the so called Heirloom cherry that AG supplies is not a hybrid meaning the seed can be saved. I am just starting to germinate seed from my first AG garden and will report here if the plants are true to the parent. Replacing the bulbs every 6 months is a bit too conservative for me. Once a year should be more than adequate unless you are growing in total darkness. Time will tell. I will say that the new three flat bulb hood and extended height arm is a worthwhile change and I would urge anyone not yet owning the AG to seriously consider getting the new unit. On my custom Floramato runs I will be changing water before adding nutes every two weeks.

If they raised prices I guess that means it's a good time to invest in their stock :P I still can't figure out, how the HELL do they get off charging 20$ for just a pack of seeds? I can't figure that one out. So, to someone who has gone through this system, what am I missing? Are these special biotechnologically engineered seeds with gold plating or what? And IIRC, you don't even get the seeds when buying the damn Pod for 230$, haha. Looks like they really know how to MILK this product for every dime.
