Best deer repel for hostas

OK, I am guilty - don't post regularly. I do read, however.

Two weeks ago I transplanted about 50 hostas into a new garden area. So far, I have used "deer Stopper" regularly (every few days) and no damage. In fact, prints next to the hosta and no nibbles.

After all the work - I had to dig the hosta out of basically stone to move them to the new garden- I am looking for the best advice about repellent. I have also used "liquid fence" in the past with good results but all of these products are a bit pricey.

I found a site which describes a patent and gives pretty good details about the formula. I will try it and let you know if it works - lots less $$ to make it yourself.

If you have had any great success with repells, please let me know. I live in a Chicago suburb.

Thank you for reading.
