UPDATE: You win some, you lose some

You guys were right on target with your HVX diagnosis. Within a few days, that poor Golden Tiara was covered with "ink bleeding" leaves. I dug it out Thursday, along with its next-door neighbor Diamond Tiara, which you said was also infected by the look of its leaves.

But...one of those very large blue-green hostas has now sent a single periscope up out of the soil, when I thought they were dead, and another hosta (maybe another one of the blue-greens, I can't remember if I planted one on the other side of the tree) has sent up a few still-furled leaves.

Thus far, I think the undulate albomarginata is HVX free, as well as the Wide Brim on the other side of the tree. I don't see any "ink bleeds" on either of those.

Keep your fingers crossed. And hopefully next year, I can plant 2 new hostas to replace the Tiara Twins.
