Get some of those iron compound pellets that are safe for critters (Escar-go for one, there are others) and sprinkle them around.....and if you see slug damage after a month, repeat. If you don't see damage, assume you got most of them, or something is eating them.
People who cultivate toads have no slug problems....now to figure out how to cultivate toads!!

Easy some type of water feature even a large pail will do. We have so many one can hardly walk outside at nite.

Where is Papou the slug man, search his name for all you will ever need to know about slug work.

I got a great tip some years ago from this forum on a snail/slug/insect prevention and it works!!

Place 1 inch of Murphy's Oil Soap in the bottom of any clean spray bottle (even a pump sprayer that's never had pesticide in it before) and then just fill the rest of the bottle up with water and a pinch of cayenne pepper(this one's for the bug's). Let sit for 20 minutes. Spray on the underside of the leaves and in between the eyes (if you find some snails in there and can pick them out, all the better)and on the leaves themselves. You can't spray the top of the leaves on blues hostas as this will wash off the blue waxy coating that these hostas have. This spray is effective on all plants too and won't kill anything if oversprayed. In fact, it makes everything look shiny and clean. Good Luck

Also a mixture of 1 to 10 liquid household ammonia and water will kill them on contact - also the eggs!!! As a hidden benefit - it is a mild gentle fertilizer!!!

I also put a ring of crushed eggshells around the ones that were the worst last year - too many to do all - usless someone can figure out how to get extra egg shells.

Sprinkle diatomite - available in 25 lb bags from pool supply stores - around the crowns. It's chemically inert. Does a much better job than eggshells, imo. Just don't breathe the stuff, do your sprinkling on a still day. It works.

5-10% ammonia solution in a spray bottle is a good slug hunting strategy if you like wandering round your plants after dark (with a flash light).

You can also set out tuna cans filled with a solution of water, baker's yeast, and sugar. Slugs adore the scent of yeast - that's why this also works with beer - they drown in it.
