Hey, Calvin. I agree that moving air should help prevent outbreaks on other plants. Physan should work on that kind of problem. It's not a systemic, but it does work against rots, and it is available in Canada, per the Canadians on another board. Url to page listing Physan distributors below. repotme.com and Oak Hill (scroll down) claim to be international distributors via the internet. Physan isn't a systemic, it's a contact product, and only works for a few days at a time, but that's usually enough to keep something from advancing. I keep a spritz bottle of it around for spraying crowns, spots, black root nubs, whatever. Seems to work. (See the discussion of physan for stopping crown rot at Al's Orchids http://orchidexchange.com/Photos/stemrot.htm I have also used cinnamon rubbed into little pits (rub on both sides), and this seems to work also. I used to be a big fan of the hydroponic ferts and still am to a certain extent, but I am finding out the more I learn about organic gardening, the less I need the expensive liquids. Now I make them myself by brewing dry ingredients into compost tea. I use bat guano, earthworm castings, seabird guano, kelp meal, dried molasses, epsom salts, alfalfa pellets and a couple other products. I will spread the dry mix around the plants, then brew the mix and spray the plants as well as water the plants with the tea. I repeat this process every two weeks. All the dry ingredients are at the hydro store and are really cheap, compared to the liquid versions. By brewing the mix, you will get a liquid that is alive with micro biology, like nothing else on the planet. Here is a link that might be useful: Compost tea (Excellent recipe)

I'm not in Toronto or the GTA but we use Homegrown Hydroponics here in Barrie. DH works in Toronto and went to the HGH store out by the airport. He says it has more supplies and part of their store is set up with grow stands etc. I would recommend them. BTW, the people who work there also use hydroponics.
