Comments (3)Sounds like a nice set-up. The light can definately be closer as light intensity loss doubles for every foot of distanece. I keep my uncooled 400w about 12-16 inches. A 1000 should never be closer then 2' from what I have read. I believe 2' for a 600 is relatively safe and you will get better growth. I read a physical test description that putting your hand at the distance you want and not feeling excessive heat after 60 seconds is safe. I have never used that approach, but I do try to feel the intensity around the light sphere to see if I am pushing too close. I hope that helps and good luck....See MoreRecipe of the Day December 21- Appetizers!

Wrap bacon around shrimp. Secure with toothpicks. Place in 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour teriyaki sauce over shrimp. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees, uncovered, 20-25 minutes or until bacon is crisp. This one I think he'd eat, so I may try it.... CRACKER SPREAD 2 (8 oz.) cream cheese 1 pkg. Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix Bacon bits Mix cheese and package of ranch dressing mix together. Shape into a ball and roll in bacon bits. This is a Paula Deen recipe and I haven't tried it either because of fussy DH but someday I will!
