Endless Summer Hydrangeas don't bloom

goosetracks

I guess our 10 below zero temp this morning is making me think of warmer weather!

Anyway - I have 5 Endless Summer Hydrangeas planted on the west side of my house that gets shade 1/2 of the day.

I've had the plants for 4 years.

The first 2 years they bloomed well. The 3rd year not so great and last year - nothing. I fertilize with an organic fertilizer. We have acid soil so I don't add any acid fertilizer.

I didn't cover them last year, but didn't think it would matter because they bloom on new growth right? They were hardy - lots of leaves, but no flowers and look a little crowded. I was going to transplant a couple to thin them out this year. Could that be it?

Any ideas?

Thanks -

Cathy
