I follow your thought Don, you lovely man! I, too added to my S&S family. Picked up a Winter Snow last year (it won/tied the 2014 Top Gun contest I ran here and coincidentally, your Goodness Gracious tied, Bernd!) and I am excited to see it unfurl this year. It has grown since last year, gaining an additional 8 pips over last year's 4 (haven't checked it the last two days, lol). I have it growing in sun from about 11 a.m. until sunset. edited to correct pip count...10 over last year!!! I thought this family had slowish growth! Even my S&S has gained 4 this year! Must be a good year for growth spurts :D! ...lovely outside at 8:00am - birds chirping, sun shining, hot coffee in hand, pips galore - LIFE IS GOOD!

Well I checked very closely today...and you are all right. There is a margin on the leaves. It is a very subtle margin and you have to look VERY closely to see the distinction in the color, but its there. It is slightly more pronounced on one of the smaller center leaves...but that leaf is below some of the others. So, I guess you are right ... not S&S... I found one photo of the Lady Isobel Barnett you mentioned...which looked very much like this... I am learning so much from all of you...thanks!!!

You all should see mine, it just broke the ground and has all of 2 leaves. It might be 4" tall. I have had this all over my yard, in the sun, in the shade, part sun, part shade. It simply won't grow for me. All my other hostas do well. Finally out it goes.

The first picture shows something of possible concern, the 2nd shot is a little less clear and I'm not sure what we're seeing. S&S can take from 5-8 years before it shows visual signs of an HVX infection. If there are only 2 leaves you have noticed I'd be inclined to leave it in place for another year and watch it more closely next year. AGDIA, the supplier of HVX test strips will ship to Canada I'm sure, but there'll be a minimum order qty and for just one plant I'd be inclined to just leave it be until you see what shows next year.
