Hi in San Fran I know that third story is not a problem , there is a member on here who lives in a highrise in s.e.Pa and she gets them way up there in the city. Sometimes it takes a while to get them coming at first even in your climate but when it gets warmer you should start seeing them. But I dont know about the kind of feeder you are using, especially if you start getting several hummers. I prefer the simple cheaper ones that are easy to change and clean with multiple feeding ports. Also Im attaching a link to video that show what IM speaking about. We only get the rubythroat hummers here in the east, but I have been lucky to attract quite a few in my rural area. On my back porch I have two glass feeders and a plastic one, up from only one glass on the back porch the year before and you will see why. I had similar experiences in my house a few times. We had foolishly put a window feeder near the doorway from our deck into our kitchen. You know how hummers zip around, well the first time this happened, two hummers flew in. One flew out right away, but the other flew further into the house. We have a two story family room and there are windows at the top. Of course the hummer went up there to try to get out of the window. She kept banging against the glass. We ran to the garage to get the 8 foot ladder. I had to go up on the ladder with a broom to try to nudge the bird down. She then took off throughout the house. We have cats, so we were afraid they would catch her. Then I found her lying on the floor very still. I thought she flew into a wall or window and was killed. My husband picked her up. We were just looking at how beautiful she was, when she sat up and buzzed off AGAIN. Back to the window. This time she must have been exhausted. I was able to take a dishtowel and put her in it and bring her outside. She again was still but after a few minutes, took off. This has happened a few times, because we tend to leave that door open in the morning. We got very good at getting them out. I was even able to do it once by myself. But we've moved the feeder and it's only happened once since then.

The upright beaked flowers contrast in both shape and color with the fine blue-grey foliage when its allowed to hang. They must have died out there for some reason, and its been so long that its hard to know for certain the reasons. I think you are referring to the dodo tree, and boy do i have tale to tell you! Do a google on Dodo tree and youl hear the miraculous story of its revival from near death. I frequently repurpose old deli and yogurt containers. As long as they have been throughly cleaned, they work fine. A trip through the dishwasher does the trick as well. In both cases (this and the bleach routine Marina mentioned,) be sure to rinse the containers afterwards to remove any detergent or bleach residue.
