Nice size plant!! Becoming one of my favorites too though my plant is still young.......I think 3rd year but was small when planted. Don't know about sun tolerance (mine is in a shady spot) but I think most will take some sun given adequate moisture.

My notes say 1/2 sun, but then I am in Ontario. It gets very large. Sport of Blue Angel and related to Guardian Angel and Beckoning. Mine is somewhat late emerging so this is from 2012. Second year in my garden. Love it

For me hosta 'Earth Angel' is very desirable but problematic to grow. I must have bought 4, one of them got crown rot. I had planted 2 together to finally get somewhere, but nothing to show yet this year. Just Wednesday I could not pass up a multi-eye 'Earth Angel' for $22 at my nursery, perhaps with that one I will get lucky. Bernd

Mine is still unfurling. Getting large. Beautiful. Picture does not do it justice. It gets morning sun.

Mine does well in the sun. Around 6 hours.

I planted Earth Angel last year and it got late afternoon sun and definately did not like it. The edges burned and it looked pretty unhappy. This year I moved it where it will get only morning sun so hopefully it does better. It was a three eyed plant last year and this year it has 6 eyes. Looks like its going to be a good grower!

I live in northern Utah so our climates may be pretty similiar.

Mine gets sun until about noon and has grown like a weed. It's where it doesn't get as much water as most of the hostas, and that hasn't slowed it down a bit. It did scorch a bit the first year in, but once it adapted, it loved the sun. Here it's just leafing out - should get a shot of the way it is now. It's a monster!

Phil, your EA is luminous, glowing. Beautiful shot. They say after a rain, the nitrogen in the air makes plants glow that way.

Wen, yes, a worthy addition to any garden. It is interesting that EA is descended from Blue Angel, one of my favorites, which held its blueness the entire 2012 growing season. Of course, it is one of 3 in the ground, and I couldn't on a whim pick up the pot to MOVE it, like the rest of my hosta. :)

My EA has had a tough life. It was a small TC start, maybe a year old, that I got at my first AHS convention in 2010. In 2011 I moved it (Still 1 eye) to what was to be its new home between the shade of my Oak and the neighbors tree, nice dappled shade most of the day, just a spot of full sun midday before the heat sets in. Then my neighbor removed all the weedy tree's on the property line (can't blame her the previous owners left a mess). I think it was July, my Earth Angel was not prepared for that and despite extra water it fried. Then last year in 2012 it did fine, 2 eyes only but pretty leaves all summer despite the half day (morning mostly). Now I count 5 eyes and I can't wait for it to open up so I can post a picture.
Based on this experience, I would say it can take some sun, it might fry the first year, but once the roots develop it should be fine.

The funny thing about Earth Angel,is it diesn't always look like my pic. Sometimes more skimpy,and other times really great. Either way,it is a plant every hosta lover should have. Phil

Mine is in full sun and no problems here in southern Vermont.

BEAUTIFUL 'Earth Angel' specimens, everyone! I'm getting mine in the earth tomorrow, where it gets about 3 hours total sun per day. We'll see how we do. I've realized that even though I'm in Zone 6a, the altitude here (about 5,384 ft.) makes the strength of direct sun seem like we're in a higher zone. Interesting, eh? My first year Earth Angel was a skimpy six leaf hosta. But each year it changes and grows more beautiful. This is one of my top 5 favorites. Good luck with yours, Don B.

I love the fact that the edging seems to be different for just about every leaf.

Here is my potted Earth Angel. I do not do anything to overwinter it except remove the leaves in late fall after they wither. It has been in this wooden box planter for about 7 yrs.

There are some really exceptional plants in this thread! I sure hope my baby version gets the hint. raven - wow - I would need a bigger porch.

I got my Earth Angel last year for $3,99 and has it ever grown from a 3 shoot to this mass plant this year. Glad everyone posts some of their pictures . It makes me look up last year information and take new pictures of the progress for this year .I have it in a lot of afternoon sun and seems to do okay in our zone during the summer

Perking up after being planted in the earth for a few days. Already a favorite.
