I guess people were too shy to hazard a guess but in case anyone else has similar problems and stumbles upon this on google I figured I'd follow up. Ends up being rust spot. The yellow on the tips of the blades tubs off on your fingers. Not going to treat but sharpening my blades should help. It appears a second issue was going on as well. I have a crazy amount of white moths which I believe are web worm and are killing lawn due to their abundance. I've seen webs over the lawn. I'll post a pic. Still need to get rid of these.

Yes, it looks worse on a trunk with boots. Another thing to consider is long term damage. Sabals can stand to have some fronds removed on occasion (naturally fires and hurricanes can cause this) but not long term. If they are constantly trimmed to that point, they develop weird trunks. The one in your pic is doing this right now. They constrict and expand, which makes them very prone to just snapping in high winds. Some faster palms can stand to be trimmed (not hurricane cut, but trimmed a little) in late spring, but sabals are very slow. The trimming also removes the plants food, as the leaves photosynthesize, which feeds the plant. Let's say you have 10 green fronds on your palm and you remove 1, you have just reduced the plants ability to produce food by 10%. Also, over trimming trees like coconuts reduces their cold hardiness, which is very bad in fringe areas like where I live, yet I see it all the time. I'll bet 100 times as many coconuts in my area have died from cold because someone trimmed them to the point of death before winter, than have died of LY here. Seriously, a bank by my house trimmed their coconuts so that only 5 fronds were remaining from what was once a full, healthy crown of some 30 fronds, and right when winter is starting! It is sure a shame. They might not die this winter if it isn't cold (we are experiencing cooler than normal temps, but the lowest we've seen so far was 39) but if we see a cold winter they will surely all die. Sorry for being so abrasive, and nothing against you, but the over trimming of palms is a big pet peeve of mine. They hire people to do a job that is actually very bad for the health of the plant.

Hopefully if you have any bumblebees or honeybees amongst your roses you can get them for me with your closeups. Had a very sad situation with my Dad's honeybees and have been clipping like mad for them...They are my absolute favorite besides roses.... You are the red rose genius here! everything red is so luscious and beautiful...And Julia Child is amazing! I love her! My closeups with Fragrant Cloud are much blurrier, but for I too love my Fragrant Cloud tree rose, it is such a continual bloomer, it's always blooming, never a bloomless moment... Now that you're back those stupid beetles will hopefully be taught a lesson with soapy water drownings and tulle to get them to go away... Lilies are gorgeous too! Jeff I tried to grow them myself, but the light colored ones were destroyed by thrips and I had to transplant one to the non-thrips area...But get this!!!! the ones with the intense reds (the stargazer)was completely untouched in thrips territory...They sure don't like the deep reds do they or the hot colors of Fragrant Cloud and Lincoln, LOL! The counter itself should have caulk between it and the wall, before the backsplash is installed. The only way to remedy that if it didn't happen is to remove the backsplash. Or, the last row of the backsplash. Then the small gap between the backsplash and counter should be filled with caulk. If the backsplash is tile, then the sanded caulk that matches the grout should be used. So, it sounds as though the right material was ordered and used. How big is the gap between the countertop and backsplash? If the gap is bigger than 1/8", you need some backer to stuff down in there before you caulk over the top to keep the water out. The caulk itself could be old, and have lost it's adhesion. I'd buy a new tube. And make sure that the caulk wasn't applied over grout. The other thing to check is are you sure that the liquid isn't coming from a faucet hole missing a gasket? Or from the rim of the sink itself? Some towels, and some colored water, together with another adult to selectively drip that colored water can help you to see exactly where that water is coming from.
