Bringing plants back inside

New to Florida gardening and have a bunch of plants outside in pots. Three large trees and some orchids. We are staying on Siesta Key in Sarasota and all the plants will have to come inside if the temps drop below 45 for an extended period.

Not sure how often that happens here, but I am concerned about bugs coming in. My plants have been hit with aphids but I fear what I can't see - Palmetto bugs? Do they hide in pots? I am deathly afraid of bringing them in the house.

I've had lizards jump out of the plants and accidentally brought a couple in the house. Did rescue them though.

Please give me your tips for bringing houseplants back inside. I have dealt with bugs when I was in NY but there are many bugs in Florida which I haven't dealt with. My biggest fear are bringing in Palmettos.

Thanks,

Jane
