Ahhhhh! You almost got me XD. That would've been hilarious if I did it, right? right? right? lol! I went to what is fast becoming my favorite garden center & got me a couple of planters that will likely work for that big ol' Jade. They were pretty inexpensive & not heavy at all. Just gotta drill some holes. The cavity is larger so I'll be able to fit more potting medium, hopefully, this will make a more stable plant with more room to develop supporting roots. While the opening is about the same as the pot pictured above, it's larger at the bottom. I'm going to search out more pots like this for my Jades, they look to be just what I need for my top heavy guys. Thanks for the input =) Antoinette

I would not plant it directly into anything without a drain hole. It is just too easy to overwater and kill the plant that way. If it is falling over and that is the only problem, why not just set it into the coffe mug? You can either just set it in or if it is too large, you can put that gravel on the bottom of the mug and then set the plant on top of it. That way, if you do get heavy handed with the water, it is easy to see it, and dump some out. If the plant is too small for the pot it is in, you can pot it up into something larger (with a drain hole) & then set that into something sturdy also. Plants that are falling over, I usually put into hanging pots or baskets & hang them up somewhere.Or you can add a small trellis. Just a matter of choice. Marcy

I am at at Tim Horton's parking lot (free WiFi) so that I can get on my macbook to find a thread in the Hosta forum somewhere that could help me remember exactly what size pine to use in my media for my pots. Well, lo and behold I found this perfect thread and I thought it could use a 'bump' for this season considering there have been media questions. Anyway, now I can go back into Canadian Tire feeling confident that I will buy the right stuff. You should have seen the young lads face when I couldn't decide what to buy and I told him that I would be back after I visited my forum and asked my hosta friends :) Again...thanks so much to all of you really experienced folks who share your knowledge with the rest of us!

Thanks everyone. I'm still eating it.... I would call this a success, but I did learn some things for next time. At least use onion powder if I don't have an onion, and be a little more generous with the salt. I'm adding both of those each serving now, and it really helps. I'm glad other people wondered what coarse meal looks like, that made me smile :o) Sewhappy, thanks for the suggestion.... Plastic wrap is not my friend, and I think for me at least using it in that manner would be harder than cleaning the worktop surface of the portable dishwasher. I scraped the dough off with a plastic pan scraper, and then just brushed the loose stuff into the trash... so much easier than trying to wash with a sponge and getting a gluey mess everywhere! Duane, I agree. I have made things before (think pumpkin stuffed ravioli) that were not worth the effort to cook them, nor the clean up process. When I make something big, it is because I want to, I never force myself to.... sometimes I am very glad I did, and other times, even halfway through the process, I mutter, "why oh why" or "never again!" I hate finishing a project and thinking "Man, I should have bought that, it would have tasted better and saved me all this work!" Annie, you like every food, don't you? :o)
