Hi,

I throught I would share some photos. Im a bit bored to day.

This is were I grow alot of my plants in the summer,Its west faceing.

Thanks for sharing the pics Cindy. You have a nice set-up. I find it interesting that this area faces west.
I have an area that faces west and I've just added more hoyas but I'm concerned about the intensity of the afternoon sun. YOU on the other hand are much farther north so I would imagine it isn't such an issue.

Jan If you look at the last pic you will see that I have sun shade stuff up because my hoyas started to burn the very first day I put them out.
The Eriotemma hoya is in the front of the house and is facing south all day. You can see that it did burn so I moved it in the west area and every day would give it more sun until I forgot to move back. Its been in front for about 2 months and I have about 5 different areas on the plant that is going to bloom.

Your set up also looks good.

The label thingys are from a company in Australia that supplies chain stores. Some of the "IDs" are a bit suspect though.... This long leaf one do you mean? Apparently it's meliflua. This thing get's seriously long heavy leaves! I've only had this one for about 4 months. It's grown such a long vine. Will have to see how it goes in Winter. wait, is fraterna a type of meliflua?

Yes, Nik. My Lady Hillingdon is a constant bloomer and always looks great. My first Tea garden has 12 out of 14 blooming right now, but the Fall flush is over. Vaporvac, yes, the Awakening petals are thick and the blooms hold up to everything and last a long time. It blooms constantly. I don't have New Dawn to compare, but Blossomtime also seems very strong as far as blooms holding up and frequency of bloom.

Cindy,

I'm impressed that you can grow an eriostemma! I've tried three different ones here in our (less) northern location, and failed miserably. Does your's do ok in winter? Mine would maintain the old foliage in winter, but all new foliage would start to grow, then drop.

All your Hoyas look happy and healthy. Good growing!

Cindy, good growing! that plant with a lots of peduncles are amazing! looks like it might be acuta??

First I must say sorry to laura about mixing up her name with jans.

Jan is acuta and parasitia the same or are they different. Some one said it might be H. parasitia green flower.The fragrance is very strong with only one flower open

Denise I just got this plant this spring. I am hoping to keep it a live this winter.I grow most of my hoyas under grow lights and I have a couple of heating mats. So fingers crossed.I know this plant needs high heat and huminty to do well. I can give it high huminty its just the heat I have to worry about this winter.

Cindy...I'm so glad you got bored today...thanks for sharing your pictures with us...your hoyas look absolutely beautiful...and other than Jan and Denise, I've never seen so many blooms! It makes me wish I had somewhere outdoors to place my hoyas during the summer...but, my entire yard is full sunshine...great for my 200+ rosebushes, but not a good idea for hoyas. Again, thanks for sharing...the pictures truly lifted my spirits. Patrick

Patrick maybe you could try some shade cloth.Before this year I had to have them south faceing with shade cloth over them. They liked the warmth and they never burned. Just a idea to think about.

I like the blossums of your H.locunosa tove -- it reminds me of winter with the little stars wearing white furred parkas LOL

Nice photos Cindy, it's always nice to see a big group of Hoyas. It looks like the Hoyas you brought back from Thailad are doing very well. Your mystery Hoya looks just like a cutting of Hoya parasitica I recently recently as a gift.
Make sure to post photos of that Eriostemma if the buds make it. I secretly dream of growing and flowering Hoya lauterbachii so I am very interested in how your plant grows.

Cindy, Your pictures and plants are great! How do you do your hanging pots? Do you add extra long wire to them for the plants to climb??? It looks like that works really well. Jane

Mike so far I have found this Eriostemma type very easy to grow. All the pediuncles that came with the plant are budding and I think I have one new pediuncles since its been in my care.This time around the hoyas from Bangkok showed very little stress.

Jane yes I do make my own hanging pots. I use what ever size pot I need and drill 3 holes and use wire ,then the hoya can go up the wire.
