I seem to buy duplicates of Kerrii. I have 2 soild, reverse, variegated, veined. The hairy one is on the way from Gardino.

I also really really like caudata. I have bought 3 now. I ended up trading one but still have two and looked to buy another one recently but didn't.

That is all I can think of now but there are lots more I really like and would love to have more than one of.

No thanks, usually I have a mild case, causing me to buy only multiple Lacunosas, KQ and sometimes Kerriis, but I try to keep it under control. Right now I have no Lacunosas at all (seems sometimes local availability is cyclical). I'll have to ask local friends as we go into Sept. & new season of Indoor Gardening Society!!

I never buy duplicates of Hoyas. But I do buy duplicates of palms, variegated monstera when I find it, more rare anthuriums or philodendrons I will buy 2 of to make certain I have one if I lose one...

The only one I purposely bought duplicates of was tsangii. I ordered one from an online source, and as soon as it was on its way, I found one at HD. Then, a few months later, I found another larger one, but the leaves were more oblong, so I thought it was different. So I have a small, a large and a humongous tsangii!

As for others, I only buy duplicate species if they're significantly different clones. I have the 3 different clones of the standard green kerrii. I just got the speckled obovata - my old one must be a very old clone as I never see photos of it anywhere. It's leaves are much thicker and vines much harder than the new speckled clone I got. And not a speckle in sight - much lighter green leaves, too... I also got cuttings of the speckled lacunosa, which is sure a pretty one. I don't really have room for too many duplicates, but I'm with you Mentha - it's hard to wait for them to grow up! Though I must admit that the ones I've grown from cuttings are the ones that I feel proudest of...

I can see where you would like philos over hoyas. There are quite a few philos I'd almost die for. I would love to find a skeleton key philo, but the only source I found doesn't ship to CA. I would also love a couple variegated monsteras. You sure do have a gift with aroids.

Did I hear you had a Rhipsalis eliptica? I would love to see a picture of it. I am a sucker for paddle stemmed Rhipsalis, but I can never seem to find them around here. I will have to plan a trip down to Rainbow Gardens soon. I hear they have quite a few Rhipsalis.

I'd love to see the hairy kerrii. I have a hard enough time with just buying the plain green one. I could really get going on the variegated ones and others also.

You can never have enough plants. ;) My real love is Rhipsalis, the epiphyllum however they are harder to find than Hoyas at the moment. I did find some large NOID epies for $40 each. I think I'll stay with hoyas for the time being.

GG there is nothing like finding a plant you like at the nursery. Whoo Hoo! There is a local nursery here which marks down plants all the time and you'd be amazed at what I find for a few $'s. Sometimes even Hoyas.

Ha ha! Denise, your story sounds like mine!!! My first duplicate was I had been waiting to find brevialata at HD, I think I lasted a month and still couldn't find one. So I got one off ebay and while I was waiting for that one to arrive....lo-and-behold, voila a 6" pot at HD calling my name!! So, I got it. But other than that, I really don't look to get duplicates except for the clones, of ones like pottsii, and pubicalyx, there were a couple of different clones of erythrostemma that looked quite nice.
So, I guess what I just figured out by writing this is if it produces different flowers, than sure I'm all for it! :)

your source for Skeleton Key is probably me. I have it, and have offered it for trade before, but I don't send plants to CA. (or TX, LA, AZ, HI). Its actually an Epipremnum, not a Philodendron.

It's one of those Rhips you have to take a machete to now and then because it just takes over. I had my main plant sitting on the top shelf in my GH and it was about halfway to the floor when I chopped at it this spring!

I've taken photos of my hairy kerrii and you really can't see any difference in a pic - at least not in the ones I'm able to take. You almost have to feel the leaves to tell the difference. And it's about the same with the veined clone, though I do like that one best of the 3 greens. I'll have to try taking a photo of a leaf of each and put them all in one post and see if you can tell the difference.

It almost looks like pachyptera. Rhipsalis sure is hard to properly ID. I love all paddle Rhipsalis, they are a plant I cannot say no to and will beg, barter, or steal to get any cuttings or plants I can. Besides mint, Rhipsalis is my favorite plant by far. Cena has a paddle stemmed Rhipsalis which I drool over every time she posts pictures of it also. She hasn't lately, but I sure love that plant.

It always happens to me when I've traded or bought something online I find the same plant at HD the next week! I always buy two or three and combine them.
