Slugs, can I like them?

Well, this won't make me popular(lol!), but I've been collecting slugs and snails in my gardens, watching my hostas carefully and I've decided to capture them, put them in a large aquarium, feed them leftover salad greens and see how many I find.

I've put lines of 'sluggo' around most of my hostas and other perennials, but the slugs are still numerous - so I'm collecting them as well as hosta lol.

When I was a very young kid, I was fascinated by slugs. I've always felt that everything in nature existed for a reason. It's hard for me to say slugs are trespassing when they were here before me and probably wish there was more natural plants to munch on. My non-lethal approach should be good for three things:

1. exercise

2. enterainment/learning experience

3. less holy-hostas lol

I wrangled up about 300-400 tonight, they apparently really like the creeping phlox that was originally planted more then a decade ago by the previous owner. It was completely covered in slugs and snails.

Be gentle with your criticism!
