Is it too late to prune boxwood?

Hi,

I'm a newbie over here, as I usually hang out on the home forums. But I have a question that hopefully some of you knowledgeable can answer. I have a large boxwood, about 4 1/2 ft tall & 4ft wide, which took a beating with our heavy snowstorms this past winter. It was basically split in half by the heavy snow, and a couple of large branches were broken beyond saving. In the spring I cut off the broken branches and pruned about 3in off all around, hoping that it would fill out again (I could see the bare woody stems where it was bent over). So far, it has given some new growth, but not that much. So I'm wondering now if I should cut it back more severely, and if so, is it too late in the season to do that now. Should I wait until next spring? Also, would the heat we've been having affect pruning?

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer!
