I had a bit of a lazy day today, been mad busy lately with my sister moving in next door (and her chickens lol) and redecorating, moving furniture and all that kinda housey stuff.
weather has been great this week and today got up to 18.9.C and the hostas are jumping out of the ground so I took loads of pics and want to shar em.

First these are my recent order, my how they have grown, some of these wern't emerged when I recieved them.

Montana Aureomarginata.

Her are a few of my other brood. Everything has made it through the winter thankfully.

Ventrcosa, rescued from the garden last autumn before I knew better than to plant hosta in a swampy place lol.

I got my PJP II (Weeks) at a local nursery. I believe Weeks grows for JP. It came in a mini pot and has done very well. I have fewer roses and I like to choose the bush that I am going to buy. I bought three bare root by mail last year. They were disappointing when they arrived, but two have done well. I shovel pruned Double Delight.

Welcome Rena,you will never do house work again,WSing is so additive. Oh wow, green already, congratulations!At 5 pm, it is still light out,happy,happy,happy. Mary, I have used the small soda bottles before, you can tape them all together, like a 6 pack, just one piece of tape all around will keep them from falling over,they work good enough,great if you are only going to sow a few seeds. Buyorsell, I always THOUGHT that about rocks cooking the roots! But everything I've read said to put it there. Sedum is a wonderful idea. I've got it growing everywhere else, why not at the base of clematis? I know that clematis like water and all, but I can promise you guys that I have some of them that have never gotten one drop of supplemental water - and around here it can get up to a 100 for 2 months in a row with no rain - and those clematis live and grow and bloom their fool heads off each year. That's one reason I love them.

I don't think anyone is going to pick it apart, because IMO it's a good plan. I like that you have separate prep and clean-up zones, and that the fridge is accessible to the living areas, without someone needing to enter the prep or cooking zones to get a drink, etc. As zsmith mentioned, the stub wall needs to be shorter, to allow the fridge door to swing past 90 degrees. I'd suggest moving the prep sink over, so that you have a bit of landing space on the right side. I hope there's a trash pull-out under the island prep counter, and that most of your base cabinets are drawers. Other than those suggestions, good on Mr. Kissel.

Never saw a post like it, Denis. The long views made me nostalgic for Quin and LaHinch and Ennis and Miltown Malbay. Lovely country. A dream to live there.

That's a lot of fabulous open space you have to play with Denis.
That said, you seem to be collecting plants at a fair click!
Enjoy your new acquisitions.
Sagae was one of the first hostas I hankered for...today, I condensed four large plants into two pots. To save my back, I think my son will need to lend a hand when it comes to lugging the containers to their final resting place!

Looking good man, your hostas look about 1-2 weeks ahead of mine. I've got pips, nothing leafed out yet. You have the area for a big, fantastic hosta/perennial garden. Do what you will, it'll look great, can't lose, man.

I counted 53 but probably missed some! WOW Denis, your hosta - all of them, look fantastic! Your picture of U. Mediovariegata is the (I mix it up with Univittata) prettiest young UM I have seen...must be the size and proportion - it's perfect! Your close-up shots are amazing.

Your property is super-fabulous-what a lucky fella you are. It's so nice to have a sibling next door - if your sister isn't a hosta nut, she will be soon, eh? Lol

Your future posts will be very exciting to look forward to. You're going for it with gusto and I'm glad you're taking us along for the ride! Thank you!

I am green with envy.Only have a few waking up here.One bed everyone must be in a coma.

Some mighty fine specimens you have there.See you ordered from Bali Hai too--you are definitely going to need that space. Beautiful, will be fun to watch it as time goes by.Keep posting those pics!

Thanks for your comments everyone, I am having the time of my life watching the changes each day.

Jo, I have 74 so far although some are duplicates and some in the ground which are surrounded with weeds and am embarrased to show lol. I am not sure if that Undulata is medio or uni, hopefully someone might let me know. Am trying to convert the sister lol, she has a 3/4 acre garden to plant from scratch, will start her with a few pots of old reliables.

James, yes I ordered a few from bali-hai before I found out about the dutch guys from you guys and probably will give him a miss in future as his plants are so small also the exchange rate is does not help, I am converted to Mr VDT! I do have a lot of space but as I expand it is such a lot more to maintain but cramed with hosta, weeds will have no where to grow, I need some staff lol.

Thanks for looking folks, the camera will be busy this year!

I will Probably make it over 100 this year, but I probably won't aquire more than Mocc lol.

For me, my 'Guacamole' pipped later than most of my other hostas, and they haven't really begun to leaf out yet. I know a lot of folks get 'Guacamole' pipping earlier than most, though. Watch, you'll walk out one morning in the very near future and BAM!! there it will be all leafing out. : )

Oh my, in a swoon here. It is going to be such fun watching all those grow and your garden develop, so please keep the photos coming. This was a wonderful treat at the end of a long day!
