It had a Klehm's tag in it, and I see they are $36 on their site and $22 to ship one plant (3 day delivery). The place where I got it was Winton's Iris Hill. They have over 1000 irises, and over 1500 Daylilies, and over 400 Hostas. The daylilies were probably at their peak here, but I wasn't that interested. Doris, (owner/operator) drove me around a bit on the property for a quick view as we were going from point A to point B. My other great finds there were Double Delight (pink) Coneflower-$6-Gorgeous! 'Conca d' Or' Oriental Lily-$3 Golden Stargazer Lily $3 Montezuma Lily $3 Honeycomb (yellow) Butterfly Bush $5 Dianthus Ruby's Tuesday $4 Lilac Evangeline $5 I just couldn't get interested in the daylilies when there were so many other cool perennials to be had at great prices, that one could only find on line otherwise. There were other things I needed, but will be going back sometime fairly soon. I'm getting her some Corn Gluten Meal and 4 bags of Milorganite. She has an hours drive for the Milorganite and there is no place that she knows of in her neck of the woods to get the Corn Meal. She says she uses the Milorganite on everything she pots up, as it fertilizes, but never burns. I'm getting 2 bags for myself while I'm getting it. I've been perusing her Iris price list, and will be ordering several. I've checked her prices, and hers are usually 1/2 or less than the prices listed for the on line vendors....plus I will save shipping by picking them up. I'm concentrating on getting a number of rebloomers. She only lists them as rebloomers, if they reliable rebloom for her, which makes it nice. Hey, count me among the cheap ones too. I like to stretch my plant buying dollars. Blueberry Breakfast is pretty, and that is a good deal that you get a clump of them on the spot.

I went and picked out that stone myself at the stone place. They had so many different kinds but thats the one I really like. The terraces gardens I worked on some again this spring. Put annuals in as I did last year on the first terrance and those nasturtiums again on terrace three. They grow and spill down the wall and it looks so pretty. I also had to re-order and plant new hummingbird mints in that terrace because last years died overwinter. My fault really as I put lots of leaves over them in the fall as mulch and those packed down wet leaves kept them wet overwinter which is a no no. They need excellent drainage. Will not be doing that again. Then I had to dig up and move all the last row of daylilies in terrace two, the ones up against the wall that the nasturtiums hang down. It really was poor planning on my part as I didn't think of the obvious, which is that they shaded that last row of daylilies. So I filled in more of the middle section in that terrace mostly with the moved plants.

Since I *think* I can keep some of my daylilies safe from the deer in the ground now, I am going to try planting 2 of the 4 fans in the ground in a couple of weeks and see how it does in the ground. Debra, I've had Last Snowflake for three years, and the other three for two years. I just got Michael Bennett last August or September. Robyn, it really is that purple or even a darker black/purple for me in the morning. All my daylilies get full afternoon sun, so BFR does change to more of a reddish purple after the hot sun is on it. Here's a picture taken late afternoon... Nat, I put all my potted dayllies, clematis, hostas and heucheras in our attached unheated garage over the winter. I've been doing this for four or five years, and there have only been a couple that I have lost (that I can remember, Moonlit Masquerade, twice, and Desire of Nations - ouch). I usually put them in the garage sometime in December and leave them in until April or so, depending on weather. I usually give them a little water once during that time - but I forgot this past winter and didn't lose any plants. Flowergirl, I don't know what other people do, but I make a mix of Miracle Grow potting mix and Fafard aged pine bark (soil conditioner). I usually throw some Osmocote in too when I plant them if I remember, but I am really bad about fertilizing after that. I really need to get into a routine of fertilizing, I'm sure the daylilies would perform better and be happier.

This is a HUGE wildlife area with a trail next to the creek. The creek flooded a couple of years ago. When that happens peoples yards flood, trash cans are knocked over...... styrafoam hot tubs float away. :0)
