How cool! It has the color of a White's tree frog which sells for some bucks here in CA. It's not as chunky, though. I love frogs all sizes. My first imaginary friend was a 15 ft frog that rode on top of the car everywhere, hehe. DH won't let me have frogs in the house he says any animal used as a plague of biblical proportions cannot live in our house. That means I can't have a snake or lizard either.

I also have had ton's of small frogs outside my house. It's pretty hard trying to keep my dog from playing/biting them.

Shanna I swear I have seen frogs like yours for sale in reptile stores for big bucks! Do you think he's a native to KS, or did he hitch in in a trade plant or perhaps he may be a "I was let go" ex-pet?? He's too neato!

What a cutie! You're so lucky... I never, ever see frogs around here. Maybe I would if I lived in the country, but not here in town. Bunnies, yes. A garter snake now and then. That's about as exciting as it gets here. I love frogs, too, and looked into getting a pet frog. But a frog book I bought says you shouldn't handle them too much (geckos, too), and I figure I can't keep my paws off my pets so they probably wouldn't do well for me...

This is my friend from last year. When I took down my shade house he moved on. I also had a huge toad which hunted slugs. He was the coolest thing, lived in the cinder block planter.

This is the best thread ever! I love frogs. We have them in our fish-less garden pond. We don't even have a pump set up in it, so it just sits there collecting rainwater. The frogs keep mosquito levels down, though! I have a board tilting into the pond and they sit there and on the rock ledges around the whole set up, but when I get too close they make this squeaky little high pitched "Eeek!" sound and jump in the water. Guess I look pretty scary.

Handful, my cat, says yum, but the wax on the toad keeps him safe from feline predators.

I love dahlias but they do not grow very well here.

Sue that's the same type frog! They are tree frogs. They are quite able to jump and climb. They plaster themselves en masse to out windows and sliding glass doors here and wait for bugs that are attracted to the houselights at night. In winter sometimes I will bring in a few plants if frost is gonna come and I always end up with little green frogs hopping all over the house! We have to chase them down and put them back out because they will dry out and die quickly in the house. AT night, they all "sing". We are used to it now, but when we first moved out here we were weirded out by it. I mean, they are LOUD. There are thousands and thousands of them, all chirping together, and they can make some really strange sounds. House guests we have had from other states say that they can't sleep sometimes because if the noise the frogs make.

I think this little one with the white stripe, which is one that we have here too, is common all over the South. Here in Florida we are also dealing with a new one, its an invasive exotic from Cuba called the Cuban Tree Frog (original, huh?) Its bigger than our little native ones, and they EAT our native frogs! They are voracious and also eat lizards and small snakes. They are a real threat. Many folks in SOuth FL kill them on site. They are just making their way up the state now. I have seen a few on my place.

I maintain some in-ground container ponds for growing water lilies and aquatic aroids, and we have large aquatic frogs in all of those. You are right, they really go help with the skeeter population!

That Dahlia is TO DIE FOR!!!!!!! Its gorgeous. I don't think those grow well here. At any rate you never ever see them, if they did, I know everyone would have them.

When I was young, in VN, I used to go to the country side to visit my ant, at night we heard the sound of frog singing in the dark, we have a lot of rice field at that time. I felt so sad, solitude, just want to go back to city.
Until now when I heard that sound, I still have that feeling!!
the Cuban tree frog, is he big? you can catch them and sale it at the Asian market, then you can have more hoya!!
