Comments (1)What a funny story CI. You might try picking up a few pullets from a feed store this spring or at a poultry swap or auction. The blue/green eggs are the coolest thing! I haven't got any pink layers but can only imagine the thrill. I do have one that lays a deep dark brownish pink though. I just love the different colors. -Sheila...See MoreGood news rogue valley albas in stock. Bad news cant verify id?
Comments (3)I wish I could grow albas, but we don't have enough (or practically not any) winter chill here. If I was you, I would consider this an experiment/adventure, and order the roses, let them grow, and then see if you can figure out who they are for sure. (I do realize that I have more of an adventurous spirit than some folks who like to be certain of things - what I think would be fun some might think would be horribly awful, so do what makes you happy.). Comments (7)Hard to tell. It also depends on the initial health of the plant. Usually they recover, and there are a few things you can do to help it along. 1. Check that the stem isn't also broken. 2. Don't attempt to "make it better" by giving it extra water. It will actually need a bit less now with fewer leaves. 3. Raise the humidity in the area. Many people will suggest to put the plant in a clear plastic bag or a glass terrarium... Just make sure the soil is moist, not waterlogged.... Good luck. Karin...See MoreBad News/Good News
Comments (25)Steve Chapman has a column in today's Chicago Tribune about a program saving lives. King County, Washington is introducing safe injection facilities where drug users can use drugs in clean conditions -- preventing overdoses and the illnesses spread by shared needles. Users ready to go straight can get help finding treatment. This is a first in the US, but there are similar centers in 100 cities around the world, according to the Drug Policy Alliance. Insite is the name of a company operating in Vancouver, Canada. Three million self-injections have taken place there and 5000 overdoses have been reversed. They've had zero deaths. There has been no increase in drug trafficking or crime in the area. (My comments: These addicts' kids are not watching their parents shoot up or die in front of them, like Jewel's brother's kids. Municipal governments are not tied up in round robins of arresting or rescuing addicts.) In 2015, 33,000 deaths by overdose were reported in the US. This is three times the number from 2002. While we'd prefer that addicts get clean, many don't want to/fail at it. Those who use in these safe settings may eventually decide to take the help offered to get clean. Maybe they'd live long enough to decide to take the help that's right in front of them at the centers. The column doesn't say where the heroin comes from at these sites. I'd assumed it is provided in controlled quality and quantity, but then I wondered why Insite needed to rescue 5000 people who had overdosed....See Morealmosthooked zone5
