Rob's Violet Barn to Canada
Comments (4)I am from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have received plants from Robs several times, but I make arrangements for them to deliver the box to a convention so cost is less. My experience with getting them through the mail is that plants are in excellent condition, but total cost for me was out of sight. Read their words on the international/Canada section at their site. I think my charges were something like $50 inspection, $60 for postage and another $60 for something I couldn't figure out. I cancelled that order. Find out if they can deliver them to a convention somewhere near you and save on the cost. Nancy...See MoreOrder from Violet Barn!!!!
Comments (4)Ann - provided your violets are semi-minis - Rob's ..., but not Rob's trailers - the size about 3oz solo cup is the one you need to maintain - exactly what Fred advises. So next time you do your repotting - 1 of March + 4 months - you trim the bottom of the rootball, remove lower row of leaves and pot your violet so the lower row now is just above the soil. Long neck is not harmful - just unsightly. So if it irritates you - you can do it now - or wait for 3 more months if it is not that bad. If any of your violets are trailers - and Rob has great semi-mini trailers - you need to increase the size of the pot every time you repot keeping the pots shallow. They look the best and grow the best in bulb pans kind of pots. Personally I do not believe in clay pots for violets, especially for minis and semis except for using as a cashepot. You can grow them in solo cups - and just insert them in a pot for decorating the table or whatnot - and when the bloom is over - back to the shelf. Since you are interested in streps - you never put them lower in the pot, quite opposite - you try to plant them in the position King-of-the-Hill - and add more perlite to the mix. Get prepared for the super blooming! Irina...See MoreHas anyone ordered from Urbanhomestyle.com?
Comments (22)HEADS UP ON COMFORTSOURCE.COM......NOW OPERATING UNDER THE NAME COMFORTSOURCE.NET. I ORDERED A SLIP COVERED SOFA AND I LOVE IT ..!! BUT.....I DIDNT RECIEVE THE CORRECT PILLOWS. I CONTACTED THEM IMMEDIATELY AT WHICH TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE RECIEVING THEM THE WEEK AFTER JULY 4TH. WELL, A MONTH AND A HALF LATER I STILL HAD NOT RECIEVED THEM. SO I SENT MY FIRST EMAIL. AND THIS IS THE RESPONSE I RECIEVED. ( I CUT AND PASTED THIS FROM THE ORIGINAL EMAIL.) "Crista these companies carry this product. http://www.nantuckit.com/slipcovered.html http://www.cottagehomemaine.com/slipcovered.html?gclid=CJjIttyOiZUCFReSQAodpQXtqA " THAT WAS IT...NOTHING MORE....SO, OF COURSE I SENT ANOTHER ONE. AT WHICH TIME I RECIEVED THIS RESPONSE: "I am afraid we will not have the pillow, but maybe the others can help." AGAIN, THAT WAS THE COMPLETE EMAIL. WHY WOULD I CONTACT ANOTHER COMPANY WHEN I PAID FOR MY ITEM FROM THEM..???!! BY THIS TIME I AM VERY ANGRY. SO I HAVE SENT 2 MORE EMAILS. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD "CLOSED THE DOORS." HOWEVER, I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE REALIZED THAT THEY ARE NOW OPERATIONG WITH THE WEBSITE: WWW.COMFORTSOURCE.NET INSTEAD OF .COM . HOW CAN THEY LEGALLY DO THIS? IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO? I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD BE TAKING LEGAL ACTION IF THEY CONTINUED TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE THAT I RECIEVE THE CORRECT ORDER. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL EMAIL STATING THE FABRICS I ORDERED. (WHICH I DID NOT RECIEVE.) I AM GOING TO CONTACT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU TODAY. CAN WE FILE AGINST THEM EVEN IF THEY ARE OPERATING UNDER ANOTHER NAME? I EVEN LOOKED THORUGH THE WEBSITE AND ADDED ITEMS TO MY "CART" TO SEE IF THEY ARE TAKING ORDERS....AND THEY ARE. HOWEVER,THEY DO NOT CARRY SLIPCOVERED FURNITURE ANY LONGER IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT....CONTACT ME. BUYER BEWARE..!!!...See MoreHas anyone ordered from Joe's Plant Nook ?
Comments (18)The shipping time is painfully long nowadays, so if the plant is not wrapped very tight and insulation is not up to the weather... the damage is unavoidable. Broken leaf or dead leaf - is not the reason to condemn the seller. If the plant is strong and healthy to start with - the loss of 2-3 leaves is not a big deal - and if you would think how the boxes are tumbled during shipping and sorting.. there is no surprise there will be some damage. BUT - seems that the general experience with this seller is not good, so just do not buy from them... If at least some leaves are still alive - try to revive them - wrap them in wet towel overnight - if they rehydrate - there is a good chance you can grow some babies. If we want a healthy large blooming plant for a gift - we can buy Optimara in a big box store. Why we shop elsewhere - is for a specific variety. So makes sense to invest time and TLC trying to coax some life out of whatever house salad we got. While still requesting full or partial refund....See Moreshiver
