Hello,I'm new to daylily board and have a question

Greetings all and Happy New Year

My home forum is the Carolinas board and my location is close to Charlotte and the SC line.

My question is, is it odd that 'in the ground for 5 years' lilies did their normal dieback but suddenly have resprouted and are now 6" tall.

Could this have any basis in the excess amount of rains we have had in the past month?

Do established corms sprout their leaves in order to fight wetness and rotting?

I really don't recall these small clumps sprouting until late Feb/March. It seems odd that after a full dieback of the 09 foliage to resprout so soon and out of season.
