Munson CD Available

For anyone interested, Ida Flynn has almost completed compiling a CD of Munson cultivar photos. The photos were contributed by Munson Maniacs everywhere, and there should be multiple photos of each Munson cultivar. The cost is $10 for the CD (which may end up being two CDs, although the cost will remain $10). If interested, let me know and I'll forward Ida's address.

Those are beautiful pics, Kabby. Knave has been on my list for a while. Are you by any chance listing any on the LA this year? After looking at your pics, I realized I don't have that many yellow Munsons. I started out collecting all the watermarked orchids/lavenders I could find and branched out from there. My faves now are all in the red and coral range. Then Suva bloomed last year and I fell in love. Jan, I think we need to exchange lists :o)

I am sure that I will be happy with whatever I choose, but it is really nice to hear how different Munsons grow for people in different regions. Cynthia, I am really enjoying your web site! Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the underlying colors of Judith and Strawberry Candy enough to keep them, Chris. I've seen pictures of them various times, and many look like the pink I had hoped to see in my garden. Another one that I bought because of seeing it as pretty pink in pictures on the web was Chorus Line. And mine is definitely not pink. But it is good performer and I still have a small clump in one my beds. A friend shared her Strawberry Fields Forever with me last fall, and I hope that I will like it better than SC. Ohhh, Matisse has an orangish throat? I was so busy looking at the petal coloration and the light eye, that I hadn't even noticed the throat.I love daylilies with orange/tangerine throats, so Matisse might really be a favorite. I have an orchid/lavender Allen Wild called Sugar Candy, which I have posted here before, and not only do I like the color of the petals and sepals, it has a tangerine throat and looks like it is glowing. From Debra's picture, I get that effect from Matisse. Red and coral colorations would work too, so I'd probably really like Cherry Chapeau as well. Linda

I think it's worth the money. The pictures are all nice clear shots. My own personal prefference: I always try to get shot's that are head on from a certain angle. Most of them are like this, but not all of these are that type of picture. It certainly doesn't mean the pics are bad. And if you want me to be really picky, I think a very small number of them have had the colors adjusted. Again, that doesn't mean it's a bad picture either, and it's only a small few that I thought I saw it on. Regarding no-name seedlings there are 80+ but I didn't actually count them all. Also as an added bonus (imo) several are taken by the actual garden owners. For some reason that appeals to me. To know that the people that grew them were taking some of the pictures. Do I think it could be improved? Yes, but what can't? :) I say if you want to see lots of new ones without someone else's personal taste dictating which are shown it's a must. I know I've put up a good sized clump of pictures, but I didn't come anywhere close to posting (or even photographing for that matter) all of the guest iris. The only problem I can say I have is that the "powerpoint viewer" doesn't seem to want to work, but I think just about all computers these days have a button you can click to view images as a slideshow. The entire problem may just be due to my own ignorance, but I wanted to be sure to mention that before you buy it. I hope this helps. I really can't judge it fairly for evryone's taste though. :) Brock

Thanks, Lloyd! I think there is at least one contributing Maniac from Canada, so I don't know why Ida wouldn't send you a CD. E-mail me, and I'll give you her address. Maybe you can send her an e-mail to ask her before you send any money.

Chris I updated my earlier information to the Munson group to include Ida's zip code. I was so eager to get the info out there I didn't even notice the zip wasn't accounted for.
Lloyd, I'll email and ask Ida about shipping to Canada.

For our Canadian friends, Ida said that she would be able to ship at a slightly increased price. Look, Ida has a commercial daylily garden and it's not a secret what her address and email are. I respect Chris for trying to protect her privacy but everything is already out there.

Thanks for the good wishes, Rick, and welcome to the Forum, Jeff. It's great to hear from another Munson admirer -- especially one who may have extras to trade soon!

I for one can't wait to get my hands on that CD....it's going to be great to have a picture source for so many Munson's on hand. I've got a pretty good start on my Munson collection...about 200 now...and it's growing every year. :)

Thanks Everyone! I contacted Ida Flynn and she can ship [Munson cd] to Canada. I don't know the cost of shipping yet so I'm just sending her extra to cover the cost. What a wonderful work of daylily history to have. I only have about 70 to 80 Munsons but I do love them. Now if it doesn't storm again tomorrow I'll be off to the post office. Digging out from Another winter storm..is this 8 or 9? I've lost count..cheers, lloyd

Got mine yesterday and all I can say is OH.....MY....GOSH!!
Even if a person wasn't a Munson fan to begin with, he or she would be by the time this is over with. This CD is not for the faint of heart, Ida has gone way over the top for $10. All you Nawtheners that have long winters should have ample time to get through it. If you have an unknown that you think is a Munson, you may just get your plant IDed here. MANY diferent takes on many Munson flowers.

I can't wait to get mine Kabby...got an email from Ida this morning and it's in the mail today...I should have it tomorrow....boy, I know what I'll be doing while it's raining here the next few days!! :)

All I have to say is if you ain't got it yet, get it! Got mine today and it's super. It's good to see the cultivars in different peoples gardens all over the country. It's very user friendly, and well put together. Ida outdid herself on it.

I was not able to email Ida. I go nowhere when I click on the highlighted "email" on their website. It looks like their garden is for sale. I hope they will be able to keep a few daylilies to play with.
If I send Ida the $10 for the CD how much do I need to add for shipping? Are the CD's still available?

Beth yes the CDs are still available. The $10 is the total price if you live in the US.
The Flynn's are selling their garden but they will keep their Munsons.
