What a beautiful picture Julia. Hope you have a great holiday season, too.Mine is off to a bad start already. One of my daughters sent me to the eye Doctor to have my eyes checked and fitted for new glasses for Christmas, I have been wearing these I have for at least 10 yrs, and have got to where I cant read the paper with them, so she was going to get me some new ones for Christmas. Well, the eye doctor wouldn't prescribe new glasses. Said I have Cataracts on both eyes,and right one being the worse,and wanted to schedule me to go have them removed right away, I told him not so fast dr,I never rush into anything without thinking it over awhile. He asked me 3 times if I have had a stroke and 3 times I told him no I have not..I guess because I was walking with a cane. don't know, but he sure was fixed on the stroke idea.he has sure scared me to death with this surgery idea. and especially when he says they don't put you to sleep for it,as it only takes about 15 minutes.My daughter was in there listening to him and said later he acts mighty queer to her, like he might be on some thing. I have no idea, but, I want to ask questions about any surgery on my eyes before anything is done.he did tell me I could go blind if its not done,and that scares me even more,as all I think about now is spring and seeing my daylily blooms again and being on the forum to see every one elses, too.

Jean: Sorry to hear about your eyes. The reason they ask about strokes is for issues relating to surgery for the cataracts surgery possibly causing a problem. Just thinking that may have been the reason he kept asking but YES, 3 times seems a bit much.
Just do a lot of research on the procedure and be comfortable with your decision. Check online resources showing the procedure and with todays modern technology I'm sure they have made many advancements to ease the surgery.

Would you believe we will hit near 60 F here on Sunday???????

Jean, DH had cataract surgery and it was not a difficult or painful procedure. You are awake, but there are no pain "fibers" where it is done, and you won't hurt. Your vision will be much better soon after, because they insert the new lens when it is done. No pain with that either. Have one done at the time, and look it up on the internet. the more you know, the better you will feel. By the way, DH said his surgeon was a very strange person, but an excellent surgeon.
Maybe they are all strange.

Thank you JUlia and Kay about the cataracts.I don't mind one bit to tell you I am scared to death of surgery on my eyes,might not can see real good, now, but at least I CAN see and with the luck I have had with doctors and them giving wrong medications, etc, I am terrified of any eye surgery, but,I do know I will have to have it done.I do not want to go blind and not be able to see my daylilies when they bloom.so any information on this surgery is greatly appreciated.

Jean - My mother had surgery for cataracts on both eyes two summers ago, and she can see perfectly now. She seldom needs glasses at all. I recommend the surgery.

Thank you debra.Thats very encourageing..This doctor told me they only do one eye at a time.hhe says they do one and a week later they do the other one.I told him great, one is bad enough and they want to put you through this twice?I would probably be so scared and nervous, might would have a heart attack before they even finish the first one..

They do only one eye at a time. My mom had one done in July, and they did the other in August. The surgery is quick and painless. Your eyes will be blurry for a few days after the procedure.

What a pretty wreath Julia......Jean, Cataract surgery is pretty common now a days. No need to settle for a doctor you aren't comfortable with. I'd get a second opinion if this guy makes you nervous. I'm no fan of doctors myself, and you need to be diligent about your own welfare. Good luck to you.........Merry Christmas to all my friends on this forum.
