Rita, I agree, and all I can do is dream about spring too. I have never tried to heat the bird baths, something to think about, I put them away, but I also have an outside cat ( he has a shelter ) who may just love the heated bird bath, so maybe it's not a good idea for me. We got hit with the second lake effect snow, as they call it. It is really early and they don't always extend south enough to get me, but it did!!!!! At least I had just finished my mulching, although I had not finished cutting back my iris. Supposed to do that late fall, what happened to late fall? So I am told that the snow is a good cover for the plants, OK I believe it but I don't have to like it.
I'm attaching a picture of a lone DL tag standing out in the snow!!! and so I don't depress too many I will also attach a picture of a local DL farm from this past summer. I just put that picture on my desktop. It helps chase the winter blues away, along with reading this forum. Also, thanks to all for posting when intros are out, especially you Rita, as I like the hardy and extended bloom. My wishlist did explode.

Well, no snow this far south yet, but a few nights in the low 20's this week and the wind was howling like mad all last night! The high today was in the low 40's. You folks up north may think that's mild, but let me tell you, for us southern born and bred people "That's colder than a well diggers hiney in January!" down here in November.

Warm wishes to all of you who are having freezing and snow!

I mope about the fact that I can't grow good tomatoes or toothy daylilies in the summer due to our climate, but hearing 20's and seeing snow, I will be content to spend the fall in my milder world.

Not so pretty here either, but still mid 30's at night and in the 50's during the day. We have not had a heavy freeze yet. Good thing too as I still have stuff to get done outside (moving my begonias in WILL happen this weekend come hell or high water :) ....the high water was what stopped me last weekend.)

I too am dreaming of spring... or just seeing my yard in the light during the week.

What a beautiful daylily garden! And the snow looks great too -- haven't seen any since our last vacation to Tahoe. I've been hoping every winter to see our place covered in snow. So far, I haven't seen a single snow flake here since we bought our place in 1989.

Hi everyone!
Checking in from the south shore of Nova Scotia.
We had our first major snowfall overnight. We got about 15 inches and could get more today in flurries. I like it for my gardens but not the shoveling or driving in it.

So far, I have most of my daylilies mulched good for the winter, all the backyard daylily gardens including all the evergreens in the plateau are done, done, done. Hurrayyy!!!! I still have to do the ones in the front yard plus I have been mulching along under the shrubs too as I go along so theres a lot more done than it sounds like. Freezing my butt off though. I hate the cold. With my luck it will get nice and warm again right after I am done.

Its been a week of fairly warm weather here but supposed to get the cold back by the weekend. I had another truckload of leaves dumped by my grasscutting guy since the first truckload was all used up. This second truckload did the job as I am all mulched and done, done, done and ready for winter.
