search engine problems

Is anyone else having trouble using the search feature of these fourms? I have tried using it for the last 2 nights and I get a page coming up that says they can't find the page maybe it is spelled wrong. Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this so that I can do some more research on plants. I hate asking questions that could be answered else where.

Yes, I've had error messages as well over the past 24 hours. It seems to only happen when I use more than one search word, so if you can manage with one, you should be able to use it. If you know which forum you want to search (say, you want to find something about 'hoya bella' and don't want to sift through every post mentioning other 'bellas') you can go to the bottom of the forum page in question and use the search field there to search only in that forum.

Thank you so much, I hope this gets fixed soon as some of the things I want to look up are more than one word.

You mean it actually works for you? The last few times I've tried it must've been down or no one here has ever discussed hot sun hardy hummingbird plants, nutsedge or Texas. I'm with J.D., google is my friend.

I know what you mean, most of my internet search experiences end in frustration... I put in a search for kitchen wallpaper and end up with sites for Desktop wallpaper... A search for the medicinal uses of Aloe turned up thousands of sites that sell aloe plants... A search for info on black walnuts ended in a list of black adult sites... Lately I find that I usually have better results if I use the one on Internet Explorer... It's http://search.msn.com/ ( but if you type that in you'll get http://www.live.com/ ) A lot of it depends on how you word your search... Although I haven't figured out the correct way to ask for anything yet... lol About the only tip I can offer is to put your search in quotes, that weeds out a lot of useless sites... And never pay attention to the right side of the screen... LOL Rita

OJ, I really like the search engine, and it never failed before. If I could remember the title of a post, of course I'd use that but seldom could remember it. So, I would try to remember a word that was used by someone within the thread. Nothing common like "the" or "have" but the least common words I could remember so as to get as few results as possible. If I were searching for this thread tomorrow, the word you used "raft" would be an ideal word to search for. I would likely get only this thread in result. Or, Kat used the word "nada" another great one to get very few results. It always worked swell for me. Thanx, Marion. I guess they heard us crying. LOL
