I know you are there! :) I've been working on an alledged animal abuse case for a few days or rather I will just say more just being a mom to those working on the alledged animal abuse case. Being Mother Theresa is so draining! Lol! I think all is well with the animal in question but boy, the ruckus that resulted! Good thing I'm a tough old bird! :) I see that you are getting a bit of weather down there. We are through the cold part now and all is warming up again nicely. One morning it was -50C here with the windchill! All my little feathered and furred friends have been sticking really close to the house for food and warmth. I guess they know where to go for some TLC! :) I sure hope your mom and dad are doing ok (and the kitties and kiddies, young and old). I became a great aunt for the 10th time this morning at 6am London time. I think they are naming this little baby girl after my mom who passed when I was very young. I am inundated with deer and they never eat the foliage but they are too busy eating Hosta and most other plants. A couple of years ago the deer ate almost every Daylily bud. I now spray the buds once a season with Bobbex and they have not touched them since. They have never eaten an open flower. I get the concentrate, add water and apply it with a sprayer but you can purchase it in premixed ready to spay bottles There are other products that can be used such as Liquid Fence. They smell terrible for a day but it is not noticeable to us after that. I need to reapply every couple of weeks for all other plants. I would need a 12' fence here and that is not doable.

Thanks all for the suggestions. We just moved here 3 months ago so waiting to see what our first winter in WV will be like. I heard from neighbors that the growing season is long here unlike what we had in NY. We shall see. Well I just sprayed Bobbex last night again because we had storms 2 days ago and of course, we just got a heavy downpour today. I don't have the option to fence since the property is 3 acres. I bought some soap today so we shall see if that deters the critters. Sticks with vicks might work. Bobbex gets expensive and yes, it stinks. Something was near the garden around 1:00am today because when I pulled the SD card from the trail camera this morning it had been taking pics but I couldn't see from the pics what was causing the cameras motion sensor to start taking pics. You will need to decide if you want , ruffled frilly bagels types , or very tailored blooms. Love ruffled/toothed edges ... but not a hard requirement. Do you want short or tall , Spider varieties , or Unusual forms. Not big on spiders, mixed heights works well in a square bed (taller in the middle, shorter on perimeter). Then there is color. I gravitate towards peach, apricot, cream, and pink. Love yellow, too. Reds and purples tend to stick out, but we do have some by the stone wall to the east. I have various colors around the yard. Big garden starts purple with iris and then goes to mostly yellow, orange, and white, with some pink of the phlox don't get eaten. East side garden is a mix (yellow coreopsis, burgundy/gold iris, purple iris, white iris, bleeding hearts, purpley heuchera, hosta, tiger lilies, yellow daylilies, Chicago Red Apache, Raspberry Pixie, mixed daylilies). Back garden is pinks and purples (that's where Pink Pajamas went). The fenced garden this bed is in is mostly fruit plants - blueberries in three beds, blackberries kind-of scattered. West side bed is orange and peach on one stretch, orange and yellow for a bit, then mixing in white hydrangeas, then transitioning to white and pink when it switches to phlox and a beauty bush. You will want to consider the height , there are daylilies that range from 6 inches to 60 inches tall. White Tie affair is probably about 8"-10" tall, and we keep going back for more of them. Jo Janet, Don Stevens, and some of the yellows are probably about 30"-48", and they're also great if I can keep the deer away. I don't think I want a daylily as tall as I am, so no to 60" unless that's just an occasional super spike. Do you want them all to bloom at the same time , or spanning a fair length of time , early , early mid , mid season, Mid late and late blooming daylilies are available . We have a mix, starting with Stella D'oro and Black-eyed Stella, then followed by Don Stevens, White Tie Affair, and the yellow and orange (I think the new Pink Pajamas is in that group), then more yellows and the Jo Janets, and Chicago Apache and Sandra Elizabeth are late. My other new ones seem to be similar to Jo Janet in the mid-late group. Do you prefer Diploids or Tetraploids? Double or single blooms . Unusual blooms that look like none of the others I said before I don't have much preference, but apparently I have picked almost all tets. I tend to prefer singles over doubles. Doubles sometimes have a bit much going on for my preferences.. I appreciate them, but pick singles for my garden. Much like doubles and spiders, pinched and twisted petals aren't my preference, which I think covers most of the unusuals.
