Are you sure it is really gone & not just gone summer dormant? We have perpetual drought here and when my sprinklers get blocked by something growing up in front of them I sometimes have daylilies that will go to sleep earlier than usual to preserve their energy, sometimes even in mid summer. I've had some really surprise me both with this and with what I thought was a winter kill. A couple months later when the weather is more to their liking they may send up new shoots. If the roots & crown actually rotted then it is gone. IG is a lovely flower. Mine is 2nd year in my garden and just coming into its prime. I too planted it in the back expecting it to be taller and need to move it to the front of the bed. Good luck, Debra

Yes :-). Some rebloom and others are newbies so they are blooming off cycle. I took all the scapes with buds/blooms off today and stuck them in a container.Maybe all the buds will open and perhaps not. Worth a try. Temps here have finally dipped down at night into the 40's so no use leaving them on the plants. Ones I clipped the scapes with buds/blooms are INDIAN GIVER, BROADWAY SPARKLER, LIGHT OF THE WORLD, RASPBERRY BANANA CHEESECAKE, ACAPULCO DAZE, CARNIVAL IN BRAZIL, PAPER BUTTERFLY AND SOMETHING MARVELOUS have been here. KIPLING, WREN'S SONG, LIGHTER THAN AIR and I can't remember the Maryott ones are newbies this spring. The 2 in the pic that have opened are BROADWAY SPARKLER and RASPBERRY BANANA CHEESECAKE. I also took off a scape with a pod on it and will see if it will mature on the scape. It has been one great season and we are almost into October! Julia

Indian Giver has always done well in my Zone 6 Canadian Garden . My first question Roxanne, would be ....did you buy it from a reputable daylily grower or from a general nursery or big box store . I have discovered that many of the daylilies from Walmart, Home Depot or nurseries that dont specialize in daylilies etc. are tissue culture daylilies and don't perform like the cultivars taken from a mother clump . They are always a little off . Maybe a little shorter or slightly smaller bloom or , or , or . Could that possibly explain the difference in your plant from the images of others plants. ? Do you have a picture of it you could share? If not , you could take your soil to have it tested for ph and then add whatever is lacking ( if anything). The only other thing I can think of is .......is the plant in 6 hours of full sun ? Oh and I guess I am the one person who has rock free soil . Its not all that it is cracked up to be believe me . I would kill for a few rocks to break up the very heavy clay. I keep adding leaves and grass clipping and compost but the clay swallows it up ......I am guessing I have the greatest dirt however it is probably about 2 feet down and no where near where my daylilies can access it !!!!!!!!
