Ah me, Christine! That hurts! The roses in snow are indeed lovely too, but we know the snow probably means the end of the season. The snow pictures are indeed beautiful, but I hate to see the lovely pictures of roses end.

Ouch!! Beautiful but OUCH!! Have to know though what the first pic of roses are? They look gorgeous. lol! All the snow looks so pretty even though it does do a number on our beautiful flowers. We are supposed to get down to freezing tomorrow night so I went out yesterday and cut as many blooms as I could. Lots of my stuff has been slowing down anyway but still have lots of buds to come that won't make it. Judy

Hope you got rid of your snow as much as we did here. The sun came out, the temps got to the low 40's F and it is all gone. Suppose to be very cold again tonight but I don't plan to garden in the dark anyway LOL.

I so enjoyed your rose pics. But you know, next year will be even better with all the new additions you've put in.

The first rose photo is of 'Larissa'....this rose acts like it is on steroids all summer. It started in mid-June and has never had one day without flowers...and it still has clusters of them left today! Not to mention it doesn't have a single speck of blackspot even now, no-spray.

I just saw an updated weather forecast for my area and
they are upping the predicted snowfall. Now it's over 8 inches, with more in the higher elevations (which I am at a higher elevation here)... it could be 8" to a foot. They predict power outages because the trees still have leaves and this is a heavy wet snow that will cling to the trees and bring down branches from the weight. The heavy
snow band falls right smack over where I live so I am delighted (insert sarcasm here). Is it Christmas already?

Well. it certainly looks like winter has started,and I hate wintertime.that view out your kitchen window sure looks much different now then it did in the last photo.thet tree with the red leaves is still pretty, even with the snow on them.I also heard on the weather channel the noth east may get about 12 inches of snow,and I thought of your beautiful rosesgetting weighted down with that snow, but roses always bounce right back upyour daylilies are squashed down now, but come spring,I bet they will perk right back up and have gorgeous blooms again.I will be looking for lots of pretty photo's any way of the snow snow now.Has the kitties been out in it yet? That will be interesting when they go out in that.ms blackie hops in it like a rabbit when she gets in it.she looks for spots thats dry with no snow.we very seldom get snow here. Its ice instead.I hate both, but if I have to have it,I rather it be snow.My one daughter that lives in N. C. had lots of snow last winter and she sent me piles of pictures of it, it was so prettyShe got out and walked through the woods taking photo's too,and it was pretty.ome of your roses still look beautiful in the snow.its cold here too, but has warmed up to 57 this evening. suppose to drop to 33 tonight,snd very gradually warm back up and be 70 for daytime high by..monday, I should have went out earier today and spray daylilies and roses again to keep the deer away, since we did get a inch of rain yesterday and last night.enough to wash all the spray off them that I put on them a few days ago.i got busy doing other things and forgot about it, and now,its late and cold and windy, that wind I can not take, its gives me a earache

hope zeus, fatcat nemo and lily are all injoying just to sit in a window and look at that cold snow. poor babies, freeze their little hineys off out there now.

Jean, The cats do not like the snow one bit. Every year once winter comes and there is lots of snow outside they pretty much stay inside all winter. They will beg to go out but when I open the door up and they see all that snow they will test it with their paws and run back inside! They hate to get their paws cold. Of course Zeus isn't an outside cat so he doesn't know the difference, but he's so funny when we walk in with snow on our boots. He sniffs at it and pokes it with his big double paws because he doesn't know what it is.
Lily and Nemo didn't go outside for the last couple days but ventured out this morning since lots of the snow has melted. They have no idea about the bigger storm coming tonight so I figured I better let them play out today because they won't want to go out tomorrow! I hate how long the winters are up here....the cats and I get 'cabin fever' being stuck inside for so many months and Fat Cat Nemo just gets fatter by being so lazy...LOL.

We saw the weather forecast last night for your area, and I'm so concerned that you may lose power. Hope all of you in the path of this storm will stay safe. The pics are so lovely even with the snow, but it is sad, too, to lose them when they were blooming so beautifully. You are right, Country Doctor doesn't seem to mind the cold at all. So sorry about all your beautiful roses but just think about all the beautiful flowers you will have in the spring. I know you probably think I'm crazy but I do at times miss the snow and the change of seasons. It's just so blasted hot in the summer in Fl I would appreciate some of the cool weather. I guess living in FL is kind of the reverse of living in the northeast we stay inside most of the summer with the air conditioning because it's really to hot to want to do much outside and you stay inside with the heat on in the winter. Little Boy says snow sounds very interesting but he thinks he'll pass on actually being in it, he says tell Fat Cat Nemo to take it easy and for everyone to find a nice warm place to wait out the storm.

The pictures of the snow on the trees really are very, very pretty. But those poor ice crusted roses! Your roses are always so pretty it is a shame to see them come to an end. Daylilies don't look too happy with their snow blanket. I really don't know how you or your kitties stand that long winter that you have up there. I guess that is the downside for all the natural beauty that you live in come spring, summer and fall.

Your pictures are so very beautiful, what a lovely place to
live in spite of the snow. That snow on those wonderful
pink roses is out of this world, couldn't be more beautiful.

Poor kitty cats, snow is not their thing. Let them stay
be the heat and toast their little toes. My Iris hasn't
had a chance at snow yet.

Those are just stunning pictures, even if they do have snow in them. Your roses are beautiful, I have very few roses, but I cut the few budsI had and brought them in to enjoy in a vase. We had some snow flying about in the air, but nothing stayed on the ground.

I hope you winter wont be too bad this year, and hope you dont get the snow storm tonigh they are predicting.They been showing all the snow thats been fellng today in new york,snd connecut.and the trees down already, i wouldnt think the trees wouold be faling so soon, but, guess the snow is heavy htis time.Guess your hubby has it hard to get o work, too wih that much snow., just be safe.

Just wanted to update on the snowstorm tonight just in case our power goes out & I can't post tomorrow. The storm has already dumped close to a foot in my yard and it's coming down fast & furious at 11:30 p.m. It's supposed to go all night and til around noontime tomorrow. I've been watching the weather channel and it's crazy how much snow is coming out of the storm for such a widespread area. The wind is getting pretty strong up here and when I put on the spotlight the trees are bowing down with the weight of the snow. They are saying at higher elevations there will be the most amounts so I expect when I wake up in the morning I will be in for a shock.

I notice that the Weather Channel focuses mostly on the metropolitan areas in their coverage. Those of us in tiny
rural towns are getting huge amounts of snow. I see there are already some deaths related to the storm and I hope there will be no more.

Jean, my husband works weekends so he will be at work tomorrow whether he wants to or not. He owns the local hardware store and also fixes power equipment so he was swamped by folks desperate to get their snowblowers fixed in time. Snow shovels were selling off the shelves...LOL.
My son works the overnight shift at our local police department and when I talked to him a little while ago he said there are cars off the road everywhere. People just weren't expecting snow in October so they don't have their snowtires on yet.

celeste;lad I decided to check the forum again,and see you just wrote this post a few minutes ago.i heard that some place out there has gotten 2 foot of snow already and its still coming down. I did not hear where this is, other then the north east. I heard there is lots of wrecks, too.this has sure been a weird year.I so hope you dont lose your power, but if you do i hope you have heat to stay warm until the lights are back on.so, your son is a police officer, ?if you have power tomorrow, please post, so we know if you are ok and have power.stay safe,

Celeste, I was thinking of you last night as the snow storms hit the east coast area. I just can't believe all the snow you guys are getting this early in the year. And it all around up north and down more south. Really odd. Stay safe and warm! And check in as soon as you are able.
