Keeping rabbits away from roses
Comments (33)I give up on fencing since the baby bunnies crawl under the fence. A lazy way to deter rabbits is to put Irish Spring soap (has a minty element which deer hates). Back in 2012 I got 12 bands (tiny own-roots) from Burlington Roses, I left them outside for several days but I placed a bar of soap in front of them. None were eaten. One night I heard a loud coughing & hacking noise, it was a raccoon that ate the soap and vomited that in a long trail of soapy bits across my garden. It was a mess to clean that up from the grass. Husband recycled the paper box that contained Irish Spring Soap and that stank up my entire kitchen. So I brought that stinky paper outside and placed on my raised bed .. haven't seen rabbits jumping on that bed for over a week, and the paper still reeked of soap. I found segments of branches & smeared that with soap and placed the branches as a "SOAPY SCENT BORDER" around rose bush. So far I haven't seen any rabbits around those "soap-scented" sticks-border, and the rain doesn't wash the scent away from sticks like smearing on bricks. Woody sticks and paper retain the soapy scent longest. Strong odor works for deer-control. Deer used to eat the leaves on my tall roses. So I hung Bounce-dryer sheets on the branches to deter deer. Perfumed dryer sheets ARE NOT as strong as Irish spring soap (which I smell it 30 feet away). Irish spring soap works best with its minty scent....See MoreHow to keep birds out of my yard without scaring away Hummers?
Comments (9)you might try animal repellent granules at the base of the tree the scent is very offensive to them if necessary you could also attach maybe a bird feeder made for the ground and put some in there too further up the tree YOU have a RIGHT to feel about your yard and birds etc any way you choose its NOT ur ignorance thats highlighted when someone ELSES attempts to shame or guilt you the granules and spray are sold by walmart...See MoreKeeping stray cats away from catmint
Comments (6)You could plant it in a hanging basket, or you could plant regular Catnip in an area away from your Catmint. It has a stronger scent than Catmint and would attract the cats first. However, Catnip is sometimes called Catmint, so you need to determine if what you have is really Catmint. Catmint will indeed have a more minty scent, whereas Catnip will have an almost skunky odor. Find some Catnip(that maybe a friend or neighbor has) or go to a nursery that has both and do a scent comparison.HTH...See MoreHow to keep homeless away?
Comments (17)I have a friend here in Las Vegas that is recently having a problem with one particular homeless guy who has vomitted on her car, on the wall on the side of the house, defecated on her property, spread his fecies on her car, her house, her door knobs, etc., and was sleeping up by the gate next to her house. We caught him sleeping there last week, kindly woke him up (bat and fire poker in hands) and asked him to leave the property and if he came back we were calling the police, who are useless and have not helped yet. Well, after the holiday weekend he was not seen until this morning, back to spreading fecies all over her house, including on the window where the camera was so no footage was seen. I am out of options. He apparently has some mental issues, as the nicer homeless people in the park across the street say they are afraid of this one, talks to himself, dances to nothing, and just exhibits mental behaviors. She has been in this house for 6 years and never had a problem until recently. He even jumped the fence or the brick wall by the side of the house to get in the back yard and left his change all over the back cement slab patio. I would really like to help, but the bright motion detector spotlights didn't help, he apparently doesn't mind nasty smells and probably would love the water. Anyone have any ideas?...See Moremarricgardens
