'Krossa Regal' looks like it's living in a blast crater at the moment! But key word: "living"...I probably will have to bury it in bark mulch one more time Monday and Tuesday...fingers crossed...Man, Hostas are SO da&%@d tough, I love them more every time I go outside!

GE is a stunning plant, I can't argue that, but I'm currently banging my head against the proverbial wall with Andrew. I'm pretty sure I can only stomach one difficult hosta at a time. Plus with a bias for the white centers I'm already cutting myself off at the knees.

Mocc, my three leading ladies have only just begun to pop their pips this last week. The one I dug up at the end of March and replanted has the most so far. Glad to see I didn't do much harm. :)

Here is Lamprocapnos spectabilis 'Gold Heart'. This used to be Dicentra, but they broke out the genus years ago apparently. I had never known and always thought all Bleeding Heart were Dicentra, but now they all have their own genus. I should try and find the article again.

Ludisia, I am impressed with your neatness---all hostas looking well cared for and the majority lined up in rows. Thanks for the info about Bleeding Heart and Dicentra. I didn't know they were different. I had heard that Gold Heart was a nice plant, and now I can see how lovely yours is. Beautiful coloring. I think a good companion plant for hosta.

So...it's anything goes? Here's spring in a nutshell, a mixture of my favorite shots so far. Everything looks about to burst and with warm weather promised in the near future - Yeah!

Great uplifting therapy.....as I wait for the teeny weeny pips to get big enough to count. Love the new "mini spot" mctavish. Great elevated place to display a collection.

Before...What an ugly waste of space...

...and almost done. All the snow and cold weather let me procrastinate on it a while, but with a bit more work, it'll be ready for Hosta by next weekend. Just need to put another layer or two of stone at the very top, and fill with nice rich soil! :)

Sorry, but this is all I have to show for now.

Here are mine a week later pretty much... They have gone through the ringer this Spring... It keeps switching from warm to cold every few days. But they've held up well and keep growing!

My new Wheee! I've had a week and one day today!

If I scratch the surface of the soil I can just barely feel the very tip of a few hosta eyes here and there but THEY ARE COMING, I'M SURE OF IT. At least I'm a little ahead of poor Hostaholic2 in MN. It snowed here yesterday but it's all gone today - still cold, but I'm puttering in the garden anyway. There's a little colour in the garden with some crocuses (croci?)

Hostaholic, your winter picture could make a beautiful Christmas card. I know it is not what you want to see about now, but there is beauty in it.

I will have to take more pictures of things here, they are all bursting forth. One big and older pot of jasmine and clematis and black eyed susan vine is in bloom. The deep purple clematis and the bright orange b-e-susan-vine were looking back at me as I noticed them from the dining room window. The jasmine is ready to burst forth too....white spidery blooms.

And I refreshed a bowl of mini hosta to sit on the umbrella-covered deck table. Little Tiny Tears has a scape. I showed it to DH, and he laughed. He never imagined hosta could be so tiny. The little Dixie Queen, from Savory's, is a nod to our first dachshund girl, Dixie. It is looking fine, and is the largest of the 4 tiny hosta in that very healthy bowl of minis. It has two Tiny Tears (from different sources), a Pandora's Box, and Dixie Queen. And takes up about a square foot of space on the table! No pictures of the minis yet. I was packing away winter clothing today. :/

And here, if you have the patience to find them, are a medley of fragrant hosta including: Emerald Charger, Tortilla Chip, Mama plantaginea (in the black dress to left), Liverpool White, Hadspen White, Fragrant King (only one dormant), Sweet Marjorie, Guacamole, Holy Mole, Sugarbabe (smallest fragrant supposedly), Aphrodite, AND Iron Gate Glamour.

And sweet Princetta, another fragrant. Like I said, I'm fond of fragrant hosta...

Yes, it was a beautiful snow, just would have preferred it didn't show up on April 18th. That 11 inches melted over the weekend and it's snowing again as I type this. But they are saying 60 by Sat. Hope springs eternal!

I know the feeling, still picking up and cutting and burning from Nemo with a lot of pips up here and only the Empress starting to unfurl. Rain tomorrow and temps holding into the 40s overnight should help things along, but looking at dirt patches and small 'asparagus' plots gets old.
