i dont know if they will send you copies of what was previously sent ... a quick email and some pleasant begging might get the last journal and the newsletter ...

but please keep in mind.. this is just what a bunch of gardeners can do ... just someone working out of their basement [not the printing part] .. so be pleasant ...

let us know what you think after you get your first journal ... drool.. drool .. lol

Thanks Karyn. I went out yesterday after I posted that and saw I do have a couple buddleai sprouts, and a couple other things that are a mystery because of course the writing wore off the labels. Argh! Hopefully they will make it. Kristy, quick kill those buggers!! I just found long-tailed mealy bugs on my poet's jasmine yesterday when watering. I started examining it, cuz some leaves were browning near the base, and there they were!!! Where the hell do these things come from for cryin out loud! I have to examine everything now today. Yep, they're peonies. I love them in bouquets. I'd just make sure that you cut them young...open, but not fully open. They'll last longer. And cut them the night before you use them, and submerge them for the night in water (hold them under with something heavy on their stems that won't bruise them). They'll last a long time that way. These were cut short, because I wanted a tight arrangement. Thanks for all the kind words!

I am still waiting to get my journals from the AHS. Sure hope they come soon. Heard nothing but good things about them. Anyway, one of the very best things so far for me has been joining the e-mail robin. Lots and lots of great information as well as daylily chat. I have already learned some new things from there. You have to be a member of AHS to be a member of the robin so joining the AHS can only be a good thing.

In the past I have received mine as much as 2+ weeks after seeing a post here that someone had received theirs. Not sure why that is. Here in Minnesota the society has a mailing party so the envelopes all get stuffed in one evening.

Their first annual newsletter was sent last week and a few people have received the first Journal for 2007. I have not received my Journal yet.

You are going to love the journal and the newsletter was really quite good, too. I think it's one of the best $25.00 I've spent.

I just received mine yesterday. My grandma...just 4 miles away...hasn't received hers yet. The mail system is a strange thing...be patient!

Do they mail them out by alphabetical order of the last name? I've had mine for several weeks now.. :)

I just joined AHS on March 11 and I've had the journal for a few days now! My last name starts with an H (like hosta!)

Ken,

I found the Hosta Journal interesting, informative and, of course, loaded with great photos. I also appreciated Josh S's article on the value of green hostas. In fact, I have a few solid greens and a solid yellow on order.

Plus I received "The Hosta Adventure" and newsletter, which I did not expect.

Let's see...I think they are mostly pale green ones. I have lots of solid blues. And I already have quite a few darker greens like Fallen Angel, Elvis Lives, Invincible, Krossa Regal, some nice Lakesides, etc.

The new ones are:
Niagara Falls
Jimmy Crack Corn
Lime Piecrust
Sun Power

Now, there is one more I'm looking/lusting for and I don't know what it is! I saw an extremely dark green hosta, close to black, shiny, roundish leaves in a 48" wide mound in the display gardens at the Winter Greenhouse in Winter, WI. It was unmarked and NO ONE at the green house knew what it was! The color reminds me of Mr. Big but the leaf shape isn't right.

Check Potomac Pride...it sort of matches the description of your mystery plant.
