Hopefully they are full, but I've had some monsters with 1 seed per chamber.

Usually there are lots more seed in pods from dips as compared to tets. At least that has been the case with me.
I harvested my last pod Monday. It was from JT Davis with Bonnie Holley as the pollen parent. There were 6 nice plump seed in it. :)

Most likely they will be full of seed, but I have one dip seedling that gets huge pods every year, and there are only usually 2 or 3 seeds in each pod. CHICKEN ON THE RUN did that this year, GREAT BIG pods with 3 or 4 seeds per pod.

wow, I had a huge pod like that on one of my unknown DL's and it had 35 seeds in it.I was amazed at all the seeds.

I love big pods. I hate the waiting.

You have to wait for the pods to dry to find out what's inside.
You have to wait to plant them.
You have to wait to see if they will grow.
You have to wait to see them bloom.
You have to wait to see them mature.

But if you just get one that you like it makes all the waiting worth it.

GEP was one of my favorite daylilies this year, so I was excited when it set pods. I never thought they'd be SO big, or take SO long to ripen, though. It's like waiting for three Christmases: once I get the gift of seeds this year, I have to wait for the gift of seedlings next year, and then wait again for the gift of blooms a year after that (if I'm lucky). Still, it's all worth it.

Unfortunately, I don't remember the crosses I made with it - I dabbed on my way out the door with the kids several mornings in late July/early August, and I totally forgot to write it down. AACK! I know at least one (possibly two) was with 'Maude's Valentine,' but I'm kicking myself for losing track of the crosses. Oh, well - nothing to be done about it now! I comfort myself that even the pros register things with one unknown parent sometimes. . . .

Laurel, Yep, those are big 'uns, for sure.
I had quite a few unmarked pods this year. But listen to this...I picked one unmarked pod and put it in my pocket. Forgot about it. Found it in my pocket that night and sat it on the bathroom counter. Forgot about it. Noticed it a couple of days later and by that time I had completely forgotten which DL the pod came from. It's not an UNKNOWN x UNKNOWN, because both parents are registered, marked, DL's in my garden. So is it IFORGOT x IFORGOTTHISTOO?

One of my favorite garden shops in Pensacola is named "Duh!" Everytime we drive by it, we have to say it out loud, with two syllables and sarcasm dripping - Duh-uh! It always makes me laugh.

I harvested two of the pods last week. One had 24 seeds, and one had 34! The seeds in the second pod are HUGE for dip seeds. I can't possibly grow all of these, so I have some to share if anyone is interested. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact crosses - the pod parent is of course 'Green Eyed Pat,' and the pollen parent could be 'Maude's Valentine,' 'Dallas Star,' or any of several other possibilities. I'm going to plant a dozen or so of these, but I have many other crosses to grow too. Oh, I wish I had an acre so I could plant them all! Does anyone else look at unplanted seeds as an unopened treasure chest, and wonder if the ones you don't plant will be a missed opportunity? Do thoughts like that keep other hybridizers planting and planting and planting until they have no room left?
