I'd say #1 is macrophylla and #2 is (maybe) cv. Jennifer. It's hard to tell how thick the leaves on #2 are - Jennifer's leaves aren't real succulent like some. Here's mine...

Thanks Denise for your help....I had a tentative Id of Macrophylla on the first one but just couldnt convience myself. I'm still not sure of the second one. I have cv. Jennifer as well so I put then beside each other and they did'nt look alike. The NOID has a lighter green leaf, not as thick and succulent the leaf curls more on the edges and is much longer. Any other thoughts as to what it may be?

I agree with Denise that the first plant is Hoya macrophylla but not too sure about the second plant. When you are dealing with a seed cross the plants will not be identical and each seed grown plant will have it's own characteristics so there is a chance it is the hybrid Denise mentioned. When you see flowers it will help but even then it will be difficult because the blooms of both species are quite similar. To me the Hoya incrassata influence is not hard to see but the leaves are pretty large for incrassata so who knows maybe cv. Jennifer is right.

Thank-you Mike for confirming the Hoya macrophylla Id on the first photo. On the second Id you mention Hoya incrassata....I can see the influence you mention, so I did some more research and ended up on the website of myhoyas.com. There was several photos there and one photo shows a striking resemblance to mine. Perhaps it is H.incrassata after all....

The parents of the cross cv Jennifer are Hoya finlaysonii and Hoya incrassata. Your plant could be Hoya incrassata and the distinct sunken mid vein and drip tip on the end of the leaf certainly point that way. For now I would keep the tag blank and when the plant blooms we can see what it looks like then.

Hi, when I first saw your hoya, it reminded me of one of mine. I got this from gardino's last summer, the biggest leaf is the one in front, the smaller ones are fairly new and haven't fully opened so they appear to be wrinkled. This is named Hoya crassicaulis. The leaves are very stiff like finlaysonii, and it's a pretty slow grower, but it's starting to take off now. I don't know if it had to get used to it's new invironment or if it is indeed a slow grower. . . . anyway just thought I'd post some more confusion. . . .

Good point Maid, Hoya crassicaulis is according to some taxonomists synonymous with Hoya incrassata and according to others a distinct species so you see both names used.

Nice plant by the way and both of these are supposed to have a very strong spicy scent when they bloom. Kinda looks like the kind of Hoya that could really take over given some time.

I have a small 'Meredithii X Crassicaulis' from Gardino's...very different than yours Maid.You said yours started out to be slow growing...but it sure made up for it now, its getting big!

Hi Maid.....Nice plant. I have a vine of H. Crassicaulis I rooted last summer, but the leaves are still pretty small and wrinkled like the smaller leaves on your plant. So I did'nt see the resemblance. But had wondered about the names being so simuliar.Glad Mike had mentioned what he did too.

Mike, I think you may be right. It seems it is starting to take up residency on the plant shelf. Wrapping around the other plants near by and soaking up water like crazy. I wrapped two of the long vines for the picture and I think I will leave them like that.

Pug, I'm sure from the looks of your other hoyas, yours will be a monster in no time. I don't think mine is Meredithii x Crassicaulis. I think it's just Crass. I ordered this one as well as finlaysonii and callistophylla at the same time. Callistophylla has three peduncles on it I can't wait to see flowers.

LGS, like I said I just added more to the confusion *sigh* but I'm possitive you'll get a proper ID, too many hoya smart folks here for that not to happen.

Hey Maid, no, you definitely don't have the meredithii x crassicaulis, Gardino's sells them both. That's why mine looks so different that yours. Mine is def.a much slower grower than your Crassicaulis...Not sure if its because its a cross or just something else?

LGS, could it possibly be juannguoiana. I have this and it looks kinda like mine.

Dee, My plant doesn't have any of the specks on the leaves and are longer than the juannguoiana. I did just got a small juannguoiana from a vendor this week, so I will keep an eye on it to see if they start looking more alike. Thanks for the suggestion.
