Blooming September 6th

Three of my rebloom scapes have new flowers today plus FINAL DESTINATION is still blooming so there is a new picture of it. Interestingly, these are all Karol Emmerich intros from this spring.

Starting with MAN OF SORROWS

MAN OF SORROWS again.

BORN TO REIGN. Not the best flower but there are only two on the rebloom scape so you take what you can get.

BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS

BLOOD SWEAT and TEARS again.

Since its September the Seedum is blooming all over the garden. A great plant. This is MATRONA, my favorite seedum which I bought this spring and its in the terraces garden.

This section of garden bed looks good because the LAVAGLUT red roses are blooming with the crape mertle blooming behind it. To the left you can just see some of my tomato plants in my veggie garden.

I felt like I went on vacation from Hanna's rains here. Your garden is really beautiful. All of Karol Emmerich's plants are just looking so good in your garden!

We had rain overnight but this afternoon are expecting much rain and wind. I got out and did my pictures before it gets here.

Adding a few more that opened today, September 4th. MEXCIAN MAGIC - FFO. Not bad for a FFO. Planted in June this year. It is quite cool here today. Thank goodness :-). I love the eye pattern on this one. VIOLA VERNETTA - Reblooming. Planted this spring and a gift from Paul Owen. BLACK EYED BULLY - Reblooming. Notice how similar this one is to Bill Maryott's INCENDIARY? They both have MEET JOE BLACK as the pod parent. RASPBERRY BANANA CHEESECAKE - reblooming. BROADWAY SPARKLER - reblooming KAREN SUE - still reblooming WATCHYL MOON BEAMS - still blooming I will remark that this one has NEVER shown to be a near white here as the registration suggests the color is. More a very lemony yellow with green highlights. I was very disappointed when this first bloomed last year as the seller showed a pic of it being very white. I'm not sure how the seller got it to look so white. HAPPY RETURNS - reblooming again That is all I found today. Julia

Container Garden picture update

gardenathome, I obtained my Elixir and Selma Cherimoya from Roger Meyer. I also obtained the Jujubes from him as well, its really nice having such a great resource close to home. Harry, My container collection averages about 2 years old. Some of my plants are 3-4 years old but that is in the minority. I added most of my plants last year and this year. I wanted to make sure I had experience with container growing, before I added the harder to grow tropicals. Most of my plants are doing very well, however I am having issues with leaf miners on the citrus. I also have 2-3 troubled plants, I am hoping these troubled plants will recover by the end of this year. On the Jujubes, I am growing 3 varieties. All my varieties were obtained from Roger Meyer. The varieties I am growing include (this is the info Roger Meyer sent me); GA866: One of the selections from the breeding program at Chico. Outstandingly sweet fruit with sugar levels approaching 45%! Large, elongated fruit. Excellent! GI 7-62: From the Chico Research Program. Fruit is round but flattened to an unusual shape. Excellent, sweet taste. A real surprise! It was named "Chico" by Paul Thompson of the California Rare Fruit Growers. SHANXI LI: Extremely large fruit with great flavor.

Dirt, I gave to neighbor a small one like this, he planted it, soon it too bloomed. You might grow some from cuttings, maybe the new plants will flower as both of these did. (My large plant has much new vegetation but no flowers.) > "I don't like eating the leaves enough to keep it." But like them somewhat, right? After the boiling, what more do you do in the preparation?

My Echeveria shaviana blooms are similar. The hummingbirds are on them frequently, and I have them placed where we can see them from my office and from our kitchen. (Hubby doesn’t particularly like the “cabbage plants”, yet loves watching the hummers on the flowers, so I keep them. :-) Only a little while longer before the hummers fly south…

Your garden certainly looks amazing. I love the roses. They don't look like tomato plants....they look like tomato trees. Well done!!!

Very beautiful! I love Blood Sweat and Tears... well, I love all of them but that is my favorite! I really enjoy seeing more of your garden as well. You have done such a nice job with everything.. you must really enjoy being able to wander through your paradise!

Well, as you all must know by now, I love my garden. There is always something going on and something to see, even when there are no daylily blooms.

The tomato plants get lots of compost so they are growing really good. Last year they were even taller than they are this year.

Tom- I have had lots and lots of rain here. While I have to water my potted plants and newly planted things, I have almost never had to water anything else here. After bloom, I gave the daylilies a nice shot of liquid seaweed fertilizer as we had had that hail which shredding up the fans. They just shot up nice new green ones and are looking pretty good lately.

Rita, BTR looks so pretty, and has been on my need to get list for a while now. I always love the pics of your garden views. The Lavaglut roses look so pretty framed against the crape myrtle and the house....so inviting. It's been way too dry here and my perennial beds look awful. Nice to see you still have plenty of flowers blooming away in your garden.

The house you see in the picture is my neighbors house, not mine. Mine is an older Craftsman style in a darker color. I like the way that little garden bed section turned out there with the roses and the rows of daylilies in front.
