Almost the end (one more bloom)

Linda Beck has been a very satisfactory plant this year. There is only one more bloom after this one:

I fyou remember, I used some fish emulsion around the daylilies, and I thought you might like to see them today:

I have been working in the area (moving around and planting) but it looks pretty good for September after the hot dry year we had:

Rita talks about using leaves as mulch, I just made a big pile of them behind the shed. I added a bit of kitchen peelings and coffee grounds and a few old daylily leaves, but I didn't turn it.

Before I planted the new daylilies, I mixed potting soil, alfalfa, worm castings, bone meal, a very little time release fertilizer, and some of the wonderful leaf mold/compost that has formed at the bottom of the leaf pile. I used this mixture to top the new daylilis and the transplanted ones, and they are looking as if they like it. I'll let you know how they do over time.

And old dried zinnias still make a good perch for a look-out protecting her territory:
