First a question about Green Mouse Ears. My plant is two years old. Does it ever get to be the shape of Blue Mouse Ears - round leaves? Mine is similar to the ones posted here, narrow wavy leaves.

To compare size, that's a mature Alvatine Taylor to the right of Green Gables.

If you look at the Library pics of GME, they appear to be young plants. However, like mine, the more mature leaves are rounder than the newer leaves. Karen's looks like it may have been in more sun than mine. Remember that sun will tend elongate leaves. More shade will mean bigger and rounder leaves. I think we're just going to have to wait on this one, unless someone has a more mature plant.

Mine was growing in sun last year, from around noon until about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Late last summer GME and its kin got moved to a new bed out of the temporary holding bed it was in and will be in more shade for most of the year. So we'll see how it looks when I take pictures of it this year.

Tj junkie,Gold Standards put out odd leaves every year,so it may,or may not return the next year. This pic of one of my many Gold Standards is one that sports every year,so I plan on separating the sport this year when it comes up. I hate to do it because it grows so well where it is,but the only way to separate it is when the white areas appear. I'm sure it will be OK,because you can't hardly kill a Gold Standard. Take a look. Guacamole was planted here before I did any reading about how mammoth it would be. Mistake on my part but it does look nice so I leave it.

Leaflover -- great 'Guacamole', and what a pretty colour combo with the beech (?). It looks as though they both get lots of sun.

Thanks Jan. They are south facing and get sun from sun-up to sun-down. A good testament to the toughness of Guacamole.
