I can tell you there are no shenanigans regarding specific nurseries or buying sources. I've never purchased online because I have a fabulous hosta nursery an hour away. They guarantee the named plant is correct, no disease, etc. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else, and there's no reason to mess with mail order. With that said, there's been much discussion over the years about mail order. The people on the forum come and go. Nurseries & growers come and go. It's pretty clear over the years what businesses stand the test of time. As a hosta collector/hobbyist...and as a person dumping quite a bit of cash into my hobby...it's extremely important to go with what I know and trust regarding healthy plants, correct labels/names, and so forth. That's the greenhouse part of the sales area. Surplus is behind and in back. They also have another sales area with various other types of plants, such as some sedums, shrubs, heuchera etc. It's a very large place. I think they have over 600 varieties of hosta in their catalog this year, and most if not all are also available for purchase at the nursery. They sell over 100 varieties of ferns plus many epimedium. Most of the ferns are also available on site as well. They also have a ton of the newer varieties of hosta in another greenhouse that they'll be adding to their sales area every year. They get the tc from various sources, but Kirk shared with me that it's their policy not to sell them until they reach a certain size. Usually around gallon size or slightly under. Good people and good plants.

I'm in a Cleveland suburb and order from Sebright all the time. Their orders are always packed very well and the root systems are very healthy. In 2020, their package arrived 4 days after the expected delivery--not their fault it was a shipper error, but still the plants were in great shape. I can't grow Rhino Hide, maybe I will try again in a pot. Lakeside Prophecy and Lakeside Prophecy Fulfilled grow in my bed which gets some afternoon sun. I got both of mine from Sebright.
