oh boy, i just ordered daylilies

Why not! I only have 11 in my garden, and 1 is missing in the weeds.

I ordered from Maryott's Garden, from reading this forum. Quite a few

very beautiful ones were sold out. I guess it's better to order in spring.

This is what I ordered:

Linda- Anytime is a good time to order from Maryotts. You will be thrilled with your order. Maryotts sends the best quality and so very generous with bonus plants.

The only one in your list that I grow is CARNIVAL IN BRAZIL and it's a really beautiful daylily.

You deffinately need more than 11 daylilies. You have come to the right place, we will do our very best to make sure you get bitten by the need more daylilies bug, just like everyone here.

Hi Linda,

I only have one of the daylilies you ordered: Victorian Lace. It is a favorite of my as a garden plant and for hybridizing. I think you will love it too.

Connie the only one I have is Milk Chocolate and it was new last year. I did just recently visit the place I bought it from and wow his are so much taller than it is registered as. Mine is normal registered height, planted in partial shade. His clump planted in full sun, the scapes were every bit of 4 ft tall and impressive. Here is a pic of my FFO on Milk Chocolate. Andrea

I'd never turn down more cabinets, but I like your design (assuming you have a place for all your junk of course!). It's not off balance because the window wall isn't part of the cabinet assembly, kinda. You have an island. You have a Wall Of Cabinets and Appliances. And you have nice floaty window unit. It works. I would (and did) put drawers on both sides of the oven. You might want shallower drawers in the smaller cabinet for spices and things, but it's all a personal preference thing. Just be sure you have a spot for all your bulky items. You may be able to stick those things in the pantry. If you want something to the left of the window to balance it (not necessary I think) and there's going to be a bit of wall there as it looks in the picture, just plan to throw up some decorative iron scrollwork or a plate rack or clock or something. I think putting in a small cabinet would look goofy. You'd have to put in enough cabinetry to really shrink that window. And you don't wanna do that!

Missed the other questions---yes, I'd skip the drawer too. Personally I'd never use it since it would be hard to see what was in it. Saw a great kitchen with mixed counters the other day---all cabinets were fir, but they did an island in soapstone and perimeter counters in marble. Worked beautifully. We are mixing wood and stone on two sides of the kitchen, as much for cost as for anything. I'll send some photos of our kitchen when it's done....hoping for Thanksgiving! :) but in the meantime, here's a link to one of my inspiration kitchens for stacking the cabinets. I asked about it here a few months back and got some photos of beautiful taller cabinets, too. We decided to stack because: 1) our cabinetmaker was not charging us much more for two versus one tall cabinet; 2) we wanted to be able to close off the top cabinets and put infrequently used things there so they wouldn't get dusty; and 3) we wanted to use glass, but we have a little kitchen and most of what's in the uppers is not pretty to look at. So we're putting glass in the top cabinets, and will store serving bowls and such up there. We are also only doing uppers along one wall, which helps with keeping it from looking too busy, though. I have Junzi, new this year from Maryott but he bloomed and was lovely. My husband's puppy ran away with the free one though and we never was able to find it. Victorian Lace is a terrific daylily. Spacecoast Sea Shells is very beautiful and a do gooder. I don't have any of the oters but it looks as though you did real well...Ellie

Well, I better start preparing a place for them. Don't want to do that
the last minute, like I did last time. Will be looking forward to their blooms
next summer.

Linda while your making a spot for the ones you ordered prepare extra spots for those impulse buys and the "oh shoot I forgot I won that on the LA". LOL The addiction begins.
