The fish wouldn't be there long if they were over here in a pond,The Raccoons would have done had fish dinner.A friend of mine had moved into a new h ouse a few years ago,and he wanted a little pond in the back yard, so he built it and it was real pretty, and he bought some small goldfish and then I gave him some bigger goldfish for it,and he was out there every evening feeding them and watching them, about 2 weeks later he said them fish got sliddish as they wouldn't come up to eat when he fed them.I told him they probably gone,and he didn't think so, but, he pumped it out to see where they were, and there was NO fish.Raccoons had done come and ate all of them...You would think they would stay in the woods where they belong.

There is a creek that runs between my property and my sister's property out here in the country. One spot stays pretty full of water year round. We put some goldfish in there last year only to discover water mocasins better known as cotton-mouth snake really likes eating them. May have been too much water for a Raccoon, but they sure are a nuisance too! Poor Goldfish....won't do that again! Connie's husband shot the cotton mouth as they are a poisonous snake and we sure don't want our grandbabies running into them!

At least no snakes here and nothing poisonous. I shudder to think of poisonous snakes, glad you did yours in.

There is a natural spring fed pond not far from here, I have gone there many times but I have never seen a frog there. But I feel there must be frogs in that pond. So that is most likely were my frogs come from.

Seems to be racoons everywere and suburban places have at least as many as the woods, maybe more. As far as ponds, anything shallow and the fish don't stand a chance, the racoons just wade in. I know because they do that in both my 35 gallon ponds. I just put feeder fish in there to eat up the mosqueto larvae and when the racoons get them, I go get some more. Only cost a buck or two, depending on how many I get.

I had some daylilies I had divided and was taking to some friends at work. The plants were under the big oak tree in pans. When I poured the water out, a little frog hopped into the iris bed. I suspect he will make his way back to the pond.

You move things around, because you decide they will look better another way. I plan to move a few shorter ones to the front, but haven't gotten to that yet.

Kay- Thats so funny about the frog in the soaking pans. I had that happen also the year I put the pond inground. The frog lived in the soaking daylilies until I got the pond inground and had time to plant the daylilies. He had to move to the pond after that as the soaker pans were gone after that.

Every year I think to myself if I move such and such around, I will be done and don't have to do it next year. HA! Well, I think of other things to move the next year. But its all part of my plan to make the garden as near perfect as it can get.

The UPS man just brought my second TB iris order which I had been waiting for. So I will be planting them today. This will finish up the new iris bed in the upstairs backyard.

I got 30 iris from the first order (Mid America) and 15 from this one (Napa County). These are definately much bigger rhizomes than the ones from the first order, I am quite impressed.

I had thought to plant iris in front were I moved those daylilies too but realize I am going to have to wait. I really want to do more work out front and they would be trampled and covered in soil if I plant them before that work gets done.

Wow, that's quite an iris order. How great that will be!! I only ordered 15 new iris this year. I will be thinning out that old iris bed after it blooms next year. I love it that you have baby fish, that is just so cool. I've moved a few daylilies here too, always am thinking of where they will look best. I love your new planters too. all your hardscape is gorgeous.

I got the TB iris bug badly last year and it just got worse TB Iris crazies after they bloomed this spring. SOOOO very beautiful. And just what I was looking for, something to take pictures of way before the daylilies start blooming. So I made that TB iris bed in the backyard, all new. I am just thinking how wonderful it will look in bloom. Its kinda in the middle. Then in back of it I have a new late blooming daylily bed and in front of everything, a regular season daylily bed.

I've spotted a little frog in my pond recently. I had a couple of large frogs, but relocated them to a lake. They were eating my goldfish. I sat & watched them stalk & snarf down a couple & decided they had to go.

I like the small frogs but not the bullfrogs. Around here I can never get tadpoles in the spring as everwhere selling them had bullfrogs. Don't want bullfrogs. Don't blame you for relocating them.

I finished up my iris planting and that backyard iris bed. It already looks so good just with all the plants in and no empty spots. The ones I planted before today are already starting to grow some. I watered but its too dark to take pictures already. Will take some tomorrow.
