Need some suggestions on new pond

Hi all. I've been lurking here for a while, learning a lot from all of your posts. Thank you.

My husband and I are just days away from breaking ground on our very first inground pond. Yea! We are planning a small 6' b y 8' pond with a waterfall. The depth will be about 2 feet.

Because the pond is not that large, I'm fearful about building in plant shelves. I had a above-ground tub pond before so I already have some marginals to go in the new pond, but I think shelves will take up too much room.

Here's my question -- what is the best way to prop up the marginals if I don't use shelves? I had been using bricks, but not sure how aesthetic that would be. I will probably build in a small coping shelves for rocks.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Gail
