Something to think about!

Janice

Okay, say you know a hosta seller, who has been "at it" since the 1980's and he not only sells

those he's grown himself for years but lots that are potted in the typical 1/2 gal(?) pots!

Come early Fall, I made a return visit and found that he'd gone around and lopped off all the

tops of those potted hostas, perhaps several hundreds of them, letting the leaves fall to the ground,

around the tables.

Now--you have to be thinking (if you are me) how could he do that without risking potential HVX

and nematode cross contamination, right?

I had spotted some suspicious plants, in the ground, for HVX and one potted one as well,

when I had visited him, on a previous trip last year.

He really had some nice-sized hosta and really good prices and I really like the older gentleman,

(I really don't think he realizes the risks of what he has done or has been doing) but now I am fearful

of taking any more chances by purchasing any more from him!!! Whaaa!

Just wondering! :o( Am I being too "over the top" in being concerned about buying from him again,

and even wondering about what I have just purchased from him last year???
