leaves are collapsing at base

I have never had any issues with my basic orange daylilies-must be a common species that you see all over. This year one group started wilting just before blooming and the other areas are following. Leaves are turning orange (like a fungus) at the base and I noticed earwigs in some of the leaves. Is this a disease? It has been a very cool summer here. Before that very rainy in the spring. My neighbors are having the same problem. Thanks for your help.
