I grow three of hers and they do great. They are Time Warp, Longlesson Showoff and Mary Ruffin. Mary Ruffin hasn't show the branching and bud count of the other two yet but it will.

Nice. Like all three but especially like Longlesson Showoff.

I MUST order from her in the spring. I would really like to get a big handful of her plants (a DOUBLE handful, lol). A few of the ones I want are marked "held for increase" this year, so I'll bide my time and order early next year. She sure has some wonderful plants!

I only have one of hers Fashion Sense ,have had it for two years and the first year bud count of 1 this year no scape no buds next year compost pile worst plant I ever had outside of Lake Effect,and a couple tc.

I have Bordello Queen new to my garden last year, first year to bloom here very impressive with very sturdy well branched scapes plenty of buds and lovely blooms. I am planning on getting more of Melanie's intro's in the future.

Melanie hybridizes not only for a pretty flower but for an all around great garden plant. That means good budcount and especially a good performer that thrives and increases in normal garden conditions.

I am very surprised that one of her intros does poorly for you but I am sure that the problem is something local in your garden and not in the genitics of the daylily.

You've a degree in advanced genetics Rita? You know the whole situation well enough to pan another's review? Or are you just doing your typical 'I know all' routine?

Melanie has lots of good plants out. Some aren't as good as others... like all hybridizers. Another poster touched on a likely scenario.. the climate being wrong for the plant. It does happen.. oh yea, except on long island.

Yet on long island all the verbage of the internet hybridizers is gospel truth.... the world is full of perfect daylilies.. grown by people who'd never lie, fudge on pictures or write plant descriptions that are meaningless to anyone serious about daylily improvement.

One more note.. the continous contact of one's lips to the posterior section of the daylily "hybridizers" from whom one has purchased plants can lead daylily lip rust. Seldom seen.. a new disease only for the most naively afficted.

Hey, not trying to start a war. If they do poorly for you fine. Honestly, I hear nothing but good things about them so I am sure they will do well here. If I thought that I knew it all in regard to daylilies, I wouldn't ask so many questions. Will be the first to tell you that I have much to learn although I have been gardening for a very long time.

This is my first time buying from Melanie so next year I will be able to say from my own experience how they do. As to growing on Long Island, I have been told that some southern plants do not do well here but everyone that I have spoken to that grows Melanie Mason intros here on Long Island has told me they thrive.
