Here is a section of my driveway side garden. You can see a row of my Fancy Face daylilies in front. Had the dogwood tree limbs that were hanging over this section removed.

Looking closer into the garden. I have to measure and space out those bricks that I just put there. Move them back some too. Now I will move some very new one or two fan daylilies gotten this spring and planted on the front yard hill to over here. They are not growing like I want them to in the front yard.

Now still at the side of the driveway. Moved down some from the last picture. I had an hugh, hugh clump of Miscanthis grass dug out of here, a post removed that had some almost dead honeysuckle and the honeysuckle vines all taken out. Forgot to tell them to dig up the stupid rose thats dead so I will do it myself.

I plan on moveing daylilies into this section from over where I have about twelve small clumps gotten on the Lilly Auction late last fall and put in a sheltered spot to overwinter. Was good for overwintering but neeeds to be moved out into the sunlight for a permentent home. Forgot about moving them this spring and litterally needed to make more room.

Now, moving on with the make room for more daylilies theme of the day.

This is a section of my front yard near were my blackberries are planted. In front of those blackberries is my row of Rocket City and Spellbinder totalling four clumps. Had a very big clump of Switchgrass dug out that was about three feet in diameter. The darn thing grows at least six feet tall and I just could not see this section of daylily garden except from a small part of the yard.

You can see the roses and another shrub rose section just planted this spring.

There is room here to expand this clump row by at least three more clumps. Want to move my OKTOBERFEST clump from the plateau to over here. I wish I had South Seas, I would plant it here. Probably next spring.

Rita, I don't think you are nuts at all,maybe workaholic but not nuts :) I would love to see your gardens in person as they look great in the pictures.Glad you didn't cut the Cherry tree down completely.When I was a kid,living in Illinois,we had a cherry tree in the front yard,and when that tree was fullof cherries,it was the first place I went every day after school.I loved them cherries. I have planted at least a dozen of them here,but they will not grow here,and die.Not cold enough winters,I suppose. That orangy looking rose in this next to the last picture is pretty..I have injoyed all your pictures,hope to see more of your projects.I would have tons of projects going on if I was younger and not have the back problems. I love working in the yard.

Boy, did you have your Wheaties for breakfast!! Congratulations on all the work you are getting done. I have been cleaning out my prairie bed today- it never did grow the way I had envisioned. I have lots of daylily seedlings that I am keeping and need to find room to plant them permanently. I have also ordered several this week. I hope it is cool where you are! Have you decided what daylilys you are going to buy?

Geeze,Rita! You made me tired! I have to go get a glass of iced tea and sit on the patio for a while. LOL! Looks great!

Jean and Ann- Sorry, I did not mean to mislead anyone. I had the guys that build my walls and projects plus cut my grass here for 3 hours and look at all the work they got done. I love it when I just have to just stand and supervize.

I don't have a chain saw and couldn't do the tree work myself. Not about to try climbing trees at my age anyway. And I do love that old Cherry tree and would never just cut it down. It has been trimmed back at other times thru the years and it always grows back bigger than ever. But it takes afew years.

I find it better for me to have them here for a half day or few hours once or twice a year and get the heavy work done than for me to take forever to get it done. For instance I had them trim a big boxwood I have because they used these real big long handled hedge trimmer things and I don't even own a hedge trimmer.

I think these bed sections will be filled with daylilies just by moving some around. Will see after I am done. But planning to save a spot in that front yard section to get SOUNTH SEAS as I really love all the pictures I have seen of it and think this would be a vey good place for it.

Oh, and I have five other cherry trees (dwarf) but this is the big one.

I didn't think for a minute that you climbed that big Cherry tree and cut all them limbs out of it,altho,its some thing I would have done back years ago,but with a limb saw and not a chain saw.Chain saw be much faster,but I could never handle one of them things.Too heavy for me.Its still work to supervise all that work,to make sure its done the way you want it done...I had planted some dwarf cherry trees, too,but none of them will live here.Sure wish I could have gotten one to grow as they are so expensive to buy in a store,(the cherries)and I love them.Hope to see more pictures, soon.

Good gosh Rita....I'm worn out just looking and reading about your projects!! But, that's the way to get it done. Have someone else do it and stand back and supervise!! :) Now be sure and post some follow up photos next bloom season so we can see how your beautiful dl's all look in their new beds!! :)

Rita, are those irises in your daylily garden? I'm afraid to plant irises with my daylilies because they don't like as much water as DLs and I'm afraid they will rot. What do you think?

No, no Irises here. I don't know anything about Iris, so someone else will hopefully tell you what you need to know.

2nd picture on the left, what are those fat, dark green leaves? (gladiolas?)

You've put a lot of hard work, money and thought into this garden. I bet your neighbors will be ooohing and ahhhing all next spring.

You never know what I might come up with next. My neighbors all watch the garden redos with interest. I know people from around the neighborhood have told me they like to walk past here to see whats happening next.

I was so tired last night that I went to bed early totally exhausted. Seeing as how it was not me actually doing those projects don't know why I was so tired. But I was running around all the time they were here making sure things got done right so I guess thats my excuse.

Here I was feeling All smug about coming home from work and clearing out some clutter in the main (old) daylilly bed and in the front bed (so there will be more room for some of the new ones coming to shine). And here you are cutting cherry trees and dog woods. Geesh! It make me tired ...and insanely jealous of your gorgeous yard.

Looks like you have your projects under firm control rita and having lots of fun while your at it.
I love nothing better than to plan what my next projects are going to be, only one hitch i don't have a helper for the hard manual labour so have to do it myself and it takes forever LOL. Keep up the good work. Its gonna look fabulous. Who says a garden is finished, not me thats for sure, i like to say a garden is an evolving project that will never be finished.

Jean- The orangey looking rose is LOUISE CLEMMENTS. I have bought quite afew of the Clemments roses from Heirloom Roses and I just love them. The section on the left were you see all the new small roses are roses from Heirloom this spring and mostly Clemments roses.

Kay- I had lots of help and wasn't about to be climbing any trees myself. I figgure now that these projects are addressed I can work on moving some daylilies and fixing up some of the places that I plan to add daylilies (that I don't even have).

Things are coming along. In the second picture of the second batch, I moved daylilies over where those bricks were put for placement. Then in the next picture I managed to get a back row of daylilies planted near the back fence there. Taking that Ornamental Grass out was a very good idea. It opened up that whole area there and I had more room than I thought I would have.

There are going to be four rows of daylilies there. Some are already there and some to be moved to finish up three of the rows. But I would love to save one row for new purcheses instead of justing moving in somewthing I already had.

The section in the last picture of the first post is coming along nicely.

With the clumps I moved today and the back row I did last week, it might even get to be a dayliliy garden yet. I am leaving that empty section, which will be a third row for getting daylilies over the winter to plant next spring.
