Three new ones

I got Appletini Last year and Lemontini this year. One starts yellow and goes green and the other is the reverse. I like to compare things so in July I moved the new Lemontini beside Appletini. Here is the result. I'm hoping that they will switch bright yellow coloring but this years wasn't that great of a test because I didn't do it early enough. All in all if I could only pick one it would be Appletini because of the shininess.

Wow! The pictures of Liberty, especially the mature ones, are stunning! Love the Liberty flower against the blue sky with clouds. It's confirmed, I've got to get Luna Moth. Also liking Little Treasure.

Liberty .....Mine's been a slow grower, but it is in a lot of shade.

Little Jay is my only mini so far.

Sandy slopes, that's a very pretty Little Jay and your picture is great. I bought mine in 2009. This is a picture on August 28, 2011, not too badly munched on. Thereafter I moved him to a new location but he didn't do well there, so I moved him back in 2012. Hope he survives. I think he does better in pots but I've never had luck putting little hostas in pots. The chipmuncks here uproot everything.

The elusive LITTLE JAY

Here's my second Little Sunspot, which I bought in 2009 and planted in the same spot as the first.

Everybody loves Liberty and mine is growing well BUT I wish that mine were more symmetrical. I'm hoping that this will improve with age. Paul, thanks for telling us that Liberty's margin widens with age.

I can't say enough good things about Luna Moth. I bought her in 2011 when I couldn't get Gemini Moon and I haven't regretted it. She wasn't attacked by slugs, earwigs or cutworms in 2012 AND she grew nicely despite the drought.

Cowboy, I liked the look of your Like Butta. While reasearching it, there was no picture that I could find that was as spectacular as yours. How old is it?

Irawon, 'Like Butta' was purchased in May, 2007 from Frank Nyikos of Walnut Grove Nursery. He sells a number of his own hybridized Hostas and Daylilies.

Cowboy, thanks for the links. I'm impressed by your diligence in documenting the growth of your hostas over the years. I've added Like Butta to my likes list, which has grown to about 150. I decided a while ago that I would add the URL under the hosta name I liked. Quite by accident after I copied the URL I pressed the space bar. To my delight that created a link. Unfortunately this only works for me in a WORD document.

Hostanista, you picture of lancifolia in bloom is awesome! I don't have lancifolia, but it is ON THE LIST

And I'm pleased to see another Little Jay, which I like. It is the reverse variegation of Verna Jean, a very strong growing smaller hosta.

As well, I got a second Lemon Lime because of the pictures of it seen on here....think it was the same photo that was posted several months back? It seems to be able to fill in bare spots quickly. I got two Little Sunspots this summer, and cannot wait for it to do its best, and then there is my new love, Luna Moth. Just so it looks like Irawon's I'll be happy. Some cool pictures coming up in the "L" section!
